THE best horror film of all time for me...no question. Im just praying Dr Sleep is half as good as I really enjoyed the book and its certainly got potential as a film (I was imagining it as a film whilst reading it). Has to be a 15 minimum though..

    Great news!

Although I hope it includes the full Final Cut as originally envisaged by Kubrick :

Spielberg as well as Leon Vitali
"The 4K remastering was done using a new 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick's former personal assistant Leon Vitali worked closely with the team at Warner Bros. during the mastering process."

US cut means a hard pass from me. Can't stand all that extra exposition it adds. It's a pity, as I'm sure it'll look great, but I'd rather have my Blu of the European cut if that's what it takes.

Agreed, I've seen the US cut - had it on laserdisc but I really prefer the european cut.

I still prefer the US cut simply because its longer (more is better!) and the extra bits still have the novelty factor for me having only seen the UK one for years.

It is a shame we didn't have the choice though. Im going to put the 4K disc in my Italian steelbook with the UK cut Blu-ray. The new steelbook is....different but not for me.

Does anyone know what aspect ratio this will be? (Or what it is supposed to be)?

The DVDs were 1.33:1 (open-matte). I have the extended edition on blu-ray at 1.78:1.

I presume that the 4K will be 1.78:1 but wanted to check.

Pretty much guaranteed it will be 1.78:1.

Looks like the UK (European) cut will not be included though so hold on to that if you have it.
