The three-part drama is written and directed by Joe Ahearne. Based on the novel by James Herbert.

Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey), Tom Ellis (The Fades), Douglas Henshall (Primeval), Donald Sumpter (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), David Warner (Wallander), Sarah Smart (Five Days) and Iain De Caestecker (The Fades)

The Secret of Crickley Hall is a modern day ghost story, told in a dual timeframe, it is full of scares yet underpinned by the heart-breaking story of a family needing to heal and ghosts who need to be laid to rest.

It is airing on BBC America this Sunday, seems BBC UK have not found a slot for it which is a shame. I'll probably watch the US transmission.

Well what a let down given the bumping it had been getting. I wonder what bright spark at the BBC thought ' let's make an ideal Halloween programme and not show it on Halloween'

@raigraphixs, did you watch the US slot? If so, was this any good?

I enjoyed it, it was quite creepy with the main supernatural protagonist. Not the most of original stories, most ghost stories/films use the same theme. The acting was good. It's a bleak tale, you might need something to lift your spirits afterwards.

Against expectations I throughly enjoyed the first part of this. I was relly drawn in. as you say it's not that original but it was very well done.

Surprised they divided it, the BBC America output that i watched was not split, which was around 2hrs 10mins.

The three part Uk version has to be longer I'd imagine even when the opening, closing credits and next week's teaser are taken into account. I think I'd rather watch it as a three part serial rather than as a film.

Quite creepy for a Sunday night
That bit at the end where she is asleep in bed and the creepy ghost man slowly leans right over her and is like 2cm from her face

it is, I watched it with my ladyfriend at the weekend as 3x 58 minute episodes in one sitting rather than the 2hr10 "movie" version (both were available where I found it). And having seen it in its long form, you would definitely lose too much story/character stuff by cutting nearly a third off its running time. That's my thinking anyway, having seen it play out over 3 hours.

I thought they did a good job with it despite the familiar feel

I watched it last night, with no great expectations in all honesty, but quite enjoyed it.

The "spooky" incidental music was trying rather too hard at times though. Less is sometimes more, Mr Audio Director!

It was good to see Maisie Williams breaking out from Game of Thrones into more "mainstream" TV. A very talented young actress...
