    Hey,

I popped out of the office earlier and walking through town I could see some South American blokes playing the pan pipes on a reasonable P.A system. They played the usual stuff, el condor passo etc and and they had the usual selection of tapes and CD's on show.

However, the odd thing is, that these pan pipe players are in every city across the UK at any given time

    How can that be?

Are they stalking me and brain washin me with the tone of the pipe

It is like the old bloke playing the harp in the shopping centre too, except he employs his wife to sell his tapes. But again, he is just always there.......harping away....

Oh, and finally, there is always this guy who looks kind of familair, shouting that 'god is salvation'. :D through a small, old fasioned guitar amp.

Is there a glitch in the matrix....?!?!?!

    Pete.

There's an absolute hero who plays really good blues guitar in Nottingham town centre...at least, he used to last time i was there.

Then there was the tramp-guy who played the same three notes up-and-down on his glockenspeil-thingy. Poor guy died a while ago, but he's still sorely missed by a lot of student mates up there...

The thing that gets me is that there's people playing pan-pipes in every city IN THE WORLD. I travelled for a bit in South America last summer, and in Quito, Cuzco, Guyaquil, Lima...and god knows where else, there were guys playing pan-pipes. I can understand that...but surely you'd expect something different....maybe they're holographically projected throughout the world somehow...

Or the the matrix is on the blink again :D

Thats what I am saying. They all look exactly the same, jet black shoulder length hair and a black fedora hat with a pox marked face.

It is the same bloke. I have seen him in Brighton, Eastbourne, Bath, Bristol but I cannot understand how he does it.

    ?

    definitely a glitch.

You travel down any motorway and watch how many Golfs pass in colour order (silver, silver, red. Silver silver red etc).

Those pan pipe geezers are in Cambridge too.

I quite often see a [supposedly] blind guy simply whistling tunes.

there are (maybe was?) some of these guys up at newcastle - the first time I saw them I thought 'aw, how quaint' - but every time I went to newcastle (saturday afternoons) they were always there...then I found out they live in walker or wallsend...!!

Here in Hounslow, we have all that plus a small chinese guy plonking a string with a flippin great speaker attached to it. He seems to be the most popular. He appears in croydon as well.

I wonder whether in South America they have similar confusion over the number of identical European blokes playing bagpipes, banjos, etc. in their town centres?

talking of - I went to Kall (Rhine Valley, germany) with a mate and we saw a german guy playing the bagpipes at an Xmas market that was weird...

I remember this p*sshead up at newcastle who used to play the bango - he was down the bigg market and these charvas walked past and kicked a shoe box (he was using for collecting money) up the street...the poor guy could only look on...

I was in Florence not so long ago and saw the Pan Pipers in the Town centre.
I have also seen them in Covent Garden, Richmond, Leeds, Kingston, and East finchley to name a few. I may start taking photos to see if they are one and the same.

I remember first seeing them in Cambridge in about '92.

Then I saw them in Newcastle and thought it was weird that they were following me round the country...

    Cheers,
    Liam
