… so with all the nostalgia that a significant anniversary brings with it, what was your favourite PS2 game from back in the day?

Kicking things off, we had a fondness for EA Games' The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, which made Christmas 2003 memorable.

So long ago now but I remember very much enjoying:

Final Fantasy XII
Beyond Good and Evil
SSX
Devil May Cry
Gran Turismo 3
Ico
Silent Hill 2
GTA: Vice City
Bully
GTA: San Andreas

Probs lots of others but it was a very long time ago.

Getting on for 30 percent of poll respondents below indicated that they still use their PlayStation 2 for the odd game now and then.

Not bad for a twenty year old device.

I would be willing to be that 90%+ of those who 'dust it off occasionally' are lying. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and 'dust it off occasionally' is just far a more appealing way to treat those fuzzy-wuzzy PS2 gaming memories than to consign them to the status of 'doorstop'.

For me it was Tourist Trophy & i still have a play from time to time on my PS2.

The first person view in the game was just excellent for its time as was the game play physics.

I still have PS2 in my room although it's so old and dusty. It's been more than 10 years since I last used it. I sure had lots of fun playing it when I was younger. My favorite games would be:
Bully.
GTA San Andreas & Vice City.
Crash Bandicoot 1&2&3 aswell Nitro Kart.
Silent Hill games.
Digimon World 1&2&3.

Yup, those were the good ol' days.

Have to say, I was never in love with the PS1 or PS2.

Had most of the Sega and Nintendo consoles before the PS1 came along. Put my (parents) eggs in the Saturn and N64 baskets and definitely preferred the N64 out of that, and the PS. (I didn't have all 3 at the same time)
I think the Saturn was given up on too easily and cost too much (ps3 anyone??)
The N64 was great fun. Goldeneye is a game of a generation.
The PS1 tried to be a mature console, and I can sort of see it, but the graphics were just not up to it and gameplay was ridiculous. I think the 360 and then the PS3 nailed proper adult games.

I bought a PS1 and sold it on.
I bought a PS2 and sold it on.
I bought a PS3 and kept it until long after I bought a PS4
Just upgraded my PS4 to a Pro and impatiently waiting for the 5....

Yeah I know I'm weird.
