After only getting to perform one song at Live 8 Murrayfield last week (criminal), I have just got the programme for this year's Feile An Phobail (West Belfast Festival) and they are playing on 31st July. I would walk 500 miles to see them play (groan), but the gig is just 10 minutes from where I live. And it's only £10 admission.
They're playing Guilfest (Guildford Festival) on Friday as are the Pogues. Unfortunately it's £35 a ticket so I'm undecided if it's worth it.
But it WAS the best opener for ANY charity supergig yet. Knocked "Rockin' All Over The World" for six.
There was a brilliant April Fool's story in one of the Scottish papers 2 or 3 years ago 'revealing' that they were not twins after all and describing how they had met etc. What made it especially realistic is that the Proclaimers were in on the joke and posed for pictures and quotes along the lines of 'we've been rumbled etc'. It had a few folk in my office talking about it until it finally dawned on us what the date was! but worth mentioning! RDB
