    Nice.
Hope it has all those lovely calibration options that prior sets have BUT with a full 3D CMS controls. That would be perfect. ;)

Thanks Suave, I certainly (100% UNbiased!) agree. I'm a big plasma fan (ssshhh, don't tell anyone) so I'll be dying to test this one out!!

I haven't seen this one in the flesh yet but I've heard from George at CES that its the first plasma we've made that almost has a 'matt' finish to it!?! i'm not sure the pictures are doing it justice though so i'll wait until I see one in the flesh! :smashin:

To be totally honest with you we have had (at least) 2 major retailers tell us the same thing (in terms of the leap we've made from last years design compared to our other major competition, and i don't mean 'catchup' I mean overtaking!) The only thing (problem) about design is that you can't please everyone!!....

    remember this?...

    Hi,

As stated, I was referring to "Aesthetics" meaning looks & design & also stated "so far" as it was still early days in CES at the time - nothing to do with anything else - kind of thought that was evident!

I'm always on the lookout for the next upgrade :D

Bad habit I should stop really. But if these sets arent badly priced and are really good the beast might have to be sold to fund for one...though I love my D8000 beast.

Im just curious why the LCD/LED tvs have almost no border at all (couple mm it looks like) but the plasma's have bigger fatter borders, is it a technical thing with plasma that stops makers from having very narrow bezels on their plasma tv's?

I think it is mate, the Sammy D8000 LED has a slim frame the plasma D8000 a slightly fatter one. I assume thats the reason LGs LEDs have a very nice slim frame and the plasma a bit wider.
Have a look at LGs OLED set the frame is slim too. Very swish. :)

Its a real shame that, i love the look of the almost invisible bezel but that would mean goin over to LCD and im REALLY not sure about that one....

All that said though i would happily forgoe any and all other features (3d included) for a top class 2d picture. In all honesty how many of the other online 'features' does anyone actually use? i use youtube on mine sometimes but certainly not enough that i would miss it if it wasnt there, the other features ive never used at all.

I have to say, as an owner of a PQ6000 & PX990, in the looks department, I think its awful.

Lets see if it can redeem itself with faultless 3d ;)

Very interested in this screen, looks nice and love LG menus' style etc.
Having a matte screen may make a massive difference to sales, most people view these in a bright store and if they can acheive lcd like brightness but with all the plasma atributes then fair play to LG for this.
If the blacks are close to Samsung (0.03cd/m2) then I'd buy one in a flash

Been on the US Avforums to check out the PM9700 reviews (not fantastic) but was wondering if anyone has actually bought the PM970t 50" or 60"and would like to pass on any general comments regarding black levels, the matt screen and motion on standard freeview and HD freeview?

    Thanks :smashin:
