So many threads about minor little glitches but no threads praising good e-tailers...so here goes.
www.play247.com very good pricing average delivery times and good service.
www.movietyme.com very good service, prices but slow delivery times(if you are someone who wants things yesterday dont use)
www.futureent.com Great company with really cheap prices and according to my mate has a good porn selection.
www.ringos.co.uk Cant fault Steve and Angies two man outfit, you pay a little more but next day delivery!(for you that want them yesterday) Note You have to phone first order in with CC details, but order via the site for others with no need to give CC details.

So anyother praise for companies :D

www.discemporium.com - reliable, earliest with pre-orders and absolutely brilliant. Oh, and expensive. But if there is a R1 DVD you abolutely positively must have on time use them. Crap webby. I always phone them to order.

www.play247.com - cheap and have good order tracking system. Nice webby. Tend to post R1 discs by unregistered mail therefore postie can swipe sometimes or he just leaves it on doorstep when no one in.

www.movietyme.com - can't comment. First order with them was a shambles for me. Numerous emails and posts to Offfcial MT thread and got no answer until DuncanWardle intervened whereby HE was sent the explanation and NOT me! Lots of people like them and they are cheap and early with releases. But if anything goes wrong - pot luck as to whether you can contact them.

www.DVDAsian.com - Great source of R3 (and R1) DVDs at OK prices. Have order tracking and post in Customs Friendly parcels. Reliable too.

www.DDDhouse.com - Cheap for R3 releases and quick from Far East. No order tracking. Limited stocks.

I use Play247 for 60% of R1 releases now that I can wait for.

I use DE for R1 releases I MUST HAVE EARLY COS I AM DYING TO WATCH THE FILM.

I use Asiandvd and DDHouse for R3 releases of Hong Kong or Japanese films.

    I will never use MT.

    Hi,

Well, I'm going to add my e-tailer "DC-DVD" run by Dave Castledine and his partner Leanne.

The DVD's maybe more expensive than some outlets, but the service is good, the discs arrive within 4-10 days, and their website is second to none, and allows tracking of orders.

I'm with you Tex on Play. However, I'd say their delivery times are better than average.

play 247 get by vote for the sheer fact that i've never had a sniff of a problem in over 30 orders.

I must also agree with pooch. DC-DVD have an excellent dvd site. Yes their prices are a little more expensive than others, but they do supply more of the 'harder to find titles'. If you do use this site it is best to pre-order titles to save a bit through discount. Dave Castledine is a very friendly bloke, will reply to emails quickly and is always on hand incase of any probs.

but plays still takes some beating!!!!!!!!!

Check out www.wmdvd.co.uk for region 1s.
They are a site sponsor. A tad more expensive but specialise in early delivery on new titles.

    For R2, Play 247 exclusively

R1, a 65:35 split between Movietyme and Play. I order on price and accept whatever delivery time occurs. However, if Play & MT list the same price I go for MT.

Of late I have noticed that A&B Sound have some very reasonably priced discs, including some not listed by Play & MT. For example including P&P,

Swordfish will cost me CAN$27.79, around £12.20p

    Cats & Dogs (Lbx): CAN$28.79, £12.60p

    Sherlock Holmes vol2: CAN$23.49, £10.30p

    :) Nice Price(s)

I've always found AB Sound's delivery speed to be the fastest of my suppliers "across the pond" - I've not had a disc from them, including boxed sets, that took longer than 3 days to deliver or even incurred the wrath of the customs man. They're still one of the cheapest suppliers I've found for R1 discs.
I agree about Play for R2's aswell - you simply cannot find them cheaper anywhere unless it's in a promotion like "3 for 2" offers or a sale bin in HMV/Virgin etc

Try www.jetdvd.com also known as videocave

I've been using them for over 3 years now and have ordered hundreds of discs from them.

Excellent prices, services and customs friendly packaging

    I live in the netherlands.

All my r1's come from www.cdnow.com. They are usually the cheapest especially with pre-orders. They also have the lowest shipping prices and 9 out of 10 times they ship everything seperately as soon as it arrives at no extra cost. They ship from germany so no extra duties/taxes for me. And most importantly they are the only retailer i can still find coupons for, this usually means free shipping and a bit more.

For euro r2's i use www.bensonsworld.co.uk. Worldwide free shipping and decent prices. They take a few days to ship but after that it only takes 4-5 days to arrive.

Biggest part of my collection is japanese r2's, and i always get 'm from www.cdjapan.co.jp. Yes they are expensive but so is every other retailer of japanese r2's. Their collection is great. Packages arrive at my door in 3 working days, which is great.

have used A&B once b4 (got way of the gun for £11 or £12 incl p&p) but recently they had a big security breach and people's card details were accessed - this put me off ordering with them as prices cheap but delivery time not the best

I have used absound since the security breach & had no problems - prices as good as ever though their shipping for double discs has gone up to $10 (from $6 for a single)
I also use play247 futureent and ezydvd and most recently devoted.com.au from who I got a really cheap DVD-A (£11 delivered!) Sometimes use dv-depot as well ... Hell I just search for the cheapest of that lot & then the missus cant winge too much (!)

Yeah I was a little nervous following that charade, and indeed put off using other 'new' (to me) suppliers after the Star DVD farce.

Still, one would hope, nay expect, in the light of that breach they have greatly improved their level of security.

    Hi,

just thought I'd give a plug to Play247 as well - good web site, cheap and quite quick. Have also just used www.ezydvd.com.au to get Mummy returns DTS (play247 don't do R4 !) and am very impressed (5 days from confirmation of order being dispatched to the postman delivering it to my door). Cheap as well.

www.mx2.com have a good range of DVD's and music CD's 'Traffic' is only £14.50 as are many other new titles and they do chart CD's from £8.99.The delivery time usually 5-7 days

I also use them for really cheap camera film and inkjet paper.

    Well worth a try..
