    Hi,

I've been trying to find out more info about these two new models from Toshiba.

From a quick google search I can only find the 'same' reviews from various sites.
with them all stating a release date of Feb 2009 and prices of £179 & £149.

Anyone any idea of an actual date in Feb for their release.

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve.

    Hi there,

I'm also looking at getting a P30. Specs look canny for the price.

Had a wander through Newcastle today and asked about. No sign of them yet.

The lass at John Lewis checked their system, the H10 has been marked as 'pending deletion'. So it looks like they will be getting the new ones very soon.

Interestingly, pixmania have the H20 dated 10/2/09 and is priced at £217, way over the rrp.

At the start of the week I was looking at the Toshiba Camileo Pro HD for £110. This new range boast a few improvement (especially for in door use), for just a little more "£'s". Might be worthwhile holding off.

I hope these are for sale soon. Not seen them on any site other than pixmania which is rather worrying

Hi, I seen the S10 on QVC, very interested in this but wonder what the sound quality is like. Some of the previous models had reported sound problems. I guess I will await others taking the plunge and listen to their reviews.

Have I missed the S10 on QVC? I saw a glimpse of it nd thought it was a "coming soon" trailer, but it looks like rdening stuff for the next couple of hours. Perhaps it will be on the "Electronics on the go" section at 11pm. I did notice their price was £119 +P+P which seems cheap, looking at the Pixmania price.

have ordered it (got 5% through quidco as well) - to be honest it sounds like they will sell out soon and at that price, i'll take a chance - use it for 30 days and if not happy return it - nothing lost (except the initial postage costs)

My brother-in-law has also ordered one on line. For that sort of money with 30 days to try it out, there's nothing to lose.

Are you planning on editing with iMovie? Apple doesn't list the Toshibas as supported camcorders - I have no personal experience with them, though, so can't say definitively that they'll nae work, Cap'n.

I would eventually if I get one. Is the Apple list complete? I suspect they don't maintain it or test individual camcorders.

Well, if the Camileo records on SD cards, I'm thinking a trip to a camera store followed by a trip to an Apple Store, with SD card and USB card reader, might be an idea. Possibly one you've already thought of. :)

Or I could save on shoe leather and take my MacBook to the camera store? ;)

There's not much around on them yet though, I'm guessing people have seen this CNET review?

    off topic
I just happened to look into this forum because of the Tosh's and am amazed reading threads about how much PC horsepower is needed to handle AVCHD. Any Mac will handle that with varying degrees of speed so I wonder if suggestions of quad cores etc aren't abit OTT? But I haven't used a PC in years so can't really comment.

Apple video editing suites (iMovie, Final Cut Express and Pro / Studio) don't edit AVCHD natively, "transcoding" it instead upon import to more edit-friendly codecs (less compressed, at the expense of massive file-size) such as Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). Hence, even a Mac mini will happily edit HD video.

Ah I see, why don't PC apps do the same? (Not AIC obviously)

Well, I'd say it's because they're all about brute force without panache, but we're outnumbered here so I'll keep quiet.

Actually, there are conversion options in the PC world, too. But I don't know what they are since I don't live in that world, thank God.

Very difficult to judge quality using online video sites.
I've just downloaded a sample taken with the Flip Mino HD
First Look: Flip Mino HD | Mac|Life
    Also here
    Flip MinoHD Review
and the downoaded files are the sort of quality I am after from a small camera.
The streamed files really don't give much clue to the quality (to my eyes anyway, maybe others can tell).
I'd still be interested in anyones views who have used the P30 though....

Hi, has anyone bought Toshiba H20 through Tesco Direct? I saw that when you bought it on most other site, it includes the remote controller in box contents, but strangely, it doesn't in Tesco site. Is it true, and do you need the remote?

I saw this at our (new!) Tesco Home store in bracknell at lunch. I'm sorely tempted to head back there and pick one up .... trying (honestly!) to hold back! I've already got a Kodak stills camera that does 1280x720/30fps video, and 12mp stills .....
