    £800. :D

A very sound price for what appears to be an excellent machine.
Does anyone have an exact date when this will be available?

    bluebaron,

To use the HDMI output you would need to change your PDA-5002 card for an Aurora A303-HDCP which has an HDCP compatible DVI input.

Does the Sony STR-DA5000ES support both SACD and DVD-audio on the iLink input?

Thanks Dutch. Does that mean the the HDMI interface is the same as DVI?

    bluebaron,

It means that you need an HDCP compliant DVI input to be able to take the HDCP encrypted signal from the 868AVi. A normal DVI (as fitted on the PDA-5002 card) wouldn't accept it. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Dutch,

I was just thinking that if HDMI had the same physical DVI interface that sooner or later there will be ways of disabling HDMI on the players. I believe there is already one for the Samsung.

Although if the Aurora card had PQ advantages I still might go for it.

Of course I meant disabling HDCP. Also realise I'll need an HDMI to DVI cable even if disabling was possible.

Not a chance in hell I am afraid, and probably for good reasons. If you want digital connection it is SDI or HDCP on DVI / HDMI.

Says it only has PureCinema mode for NTSC..! 60/72Hz 3:2 pulldown etc... What about the 50/75Hz version of PureCinema featured on the new HDE plasmas..?
