the new 46" sony lcd, or wait for a 1080p plasma ?

i am wanting to get a new tv that supports 1080p, as if blue ray and hd-dvd will be doing 1080p in the not so distant future, it seems a little pointless to me, to get a lower resolution screen. i was wanting a 50" screen but..

i am now in 2 minds about whether to get the new sony lcd 46" or wait until the plasmas come out as there is only the pioneer so far that supports the 1080p i beleive.

i currently own a plasma and was going to go for another plasma, but having seen the 46" sony on here, for a price of $ 4,599.99 (which i would think will come out in uk around £3000 ??) this is a lot cheaper than the current pioneer plasma.

has anyone seen the sony screen at all ? and after owning a plasma wil i be disappointed with an lcd thats 46" ??

i will be attaching, skyhd, xbox360, obviously a hd or blueray player when available and the ps3 to which ever screen i choose.
