Filmed over 18 months, this three-part documentary started tonight following the investigation into the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Nicholas Robinson in Bristol in March 2014, tracing the progress of the case from seemingly motiveless attack to trial verdict. It will be scheduled across three consecutive nights.

It was a fascinating insight into police work, heartbreaking to watch what the family have to go through, filmed/edited in a way that you had to remind yourself it wasn't a drama, this sadly happened. Such a waste of life.

I was gripped for 1hr 15 mins, has to be one of the best docs I've seen this year.

@steviedr Recorded it but not watched it yet, although a relative who did said it was quite a sad series of events. A waste of life was the way they put it too. Obviously an emotionally affecting documentary by the sounds of it.

It was very well made, the camera just observing and a beautiful score by Jon Opstad.
Very interesting insight into what records can be pulled up from our communications and to the investigative team itself, very tough job, you see the more emotive side of the police too.
As for the families on both sides from parents who will do anything to protect their children to parents who have had their lives shattered, it was tragic viewing.

It's really worth catching on All4 for those who missed it.
