I wondered if someone could help me?

I recently bought the box set of The Mummy on Blu ray.. All play fine except the 1st movie.

The last instance of subtitles (the ones that automatically come on the screen to translate non english audio) stay on the screen for the rest of the movie, its towards the end where the mummy grabs Rick by the throat, The mummy says something to rick along the lines of "now its your turn" the subs that translate this appear but stay on screen until the end of the movie, they vanish if I forward a little bit.. Im using a Sony S350 player (latest firmware), I dont mind buying that one movie again if someone can confirm theirs plays ok on the Sony s350, I cant get a replacement as it was bought from Zavvi (doh!)

I have just (last week) bought a Mummy box set from Play, and I have the same problem on a Sony BDP S-360 (also bought from Play). The subtitle in question only disappears if I fast forward. Do I have a defective disc?

I've got the single release of The Mummy Blu-ray (not the box set) and it works okay on my Panasonic player at that point.

    Same here.

@OP: why can't you get a replacement from Zavvi?

I have the triple set and there was a subtitle problem when I first had it but it was fixed by a Pioneer firmware upgrade - early last year at a guess.

I'll take another look later today just to be sure.

    LATER...
"Now it's your turn" pops up and quickly goes on my Pioneer using disc 1 of the trilogy.

This is why I hate player-generated subs.

Stuff like Bourne and The Mummy cost me a fair bit more to get the US versions with burnt in subs, but if it saves me having to tit about with my BD player then it's worth it. The proper subs look nicerer too.

I have a similar problem with my S360 but it was the last subtitle on GI Joe (normal not translated). It stayed on the way through the credits.

Can the OP not go back to the previous firmware to see if it still happens or does the HW not allow old firmwares to be written?

Thanks to all those who replied.

From what has been said I take that I probably haven't got a defective disc? Rather there is some sort of incompatibility between the disc and the player? In which case there would be no point me asking Play to replace the disc?

Please forgive my ignorance of the technical stuff about firmware etc. I only bought the player a couple of weeks ago, so I'm assuming that it is up to date.

NB/The OP here was 12 months ago.
