I have posted these before around 2 yrs ago. Having just bought my self a Nikon D70 and have re taken the photo's.

What is pleasing about this room is that having designed and built it (given certain constraints) there is nothing major I would change having used it now for around 2yrs.

The photo's are slightly blown and it looks as though light streams in around the blackout blinds and ruins the show and yes some light comes in but nothing like it looks

    thanks for looking

    Hi Kenny,

it works just great. I used to have the original Lumagen before this one so I am a fan. I occasionaly get squigley lines at the bottom of the screen when turned on, but a quick on and off and it's cured. There is a further update to download which may help.

The quality is fine and it's extra inputs over the original one helps.

To be honest I know work away during the week so at weekends I just what Sky and films and I am really enjoying the room rather than tweaking all the time which was a habit I was getting into when I had the time.

Thank you for the compliments, many will notice a similarity with a now famous room by Godfather. It all started when I bought my sub from him and I had a similar sized room and there was no looking back.

I have not posted for ages so if your looking Godfather I hope you are well.

    Hi Cutes

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking of getting the Lumagen DVI for a Sony LCD I've just ordered to put my TAG DVD32FLR through it.

That's right I forgot about that  Yes the FLR is better than the CDT20 for CDs plus it can sync with the rest of my TAG gear which is great.

The FLR is a great DVD player and even at 575i it can show a thing or two to DVD players that can up-scale to 720p.

That's why I'm really interested in the Lumagen as I would love to see the FLR at 720p. Budget is very tight and I may have to wait a month or two.

If I'm ever lucky enough to get a superb room like yours I will go for a PJ and the "bigger" Lumagen

Hi, with those blinds with I assume a 10-15mm gap on each side how does it perform during the day?

I am just in the process of ordering some blinds and am wondering how much effect that gap bleed will have on the viewing quality.

    Thanks
    Darren

Thunder - I have had various set ups over time and all I can say is that I am very very happy with this set up. I will say though that the best bit of equipment that I ever bought was the Beringer feedback destroyer as this has let me tune the Subwoofer in my room and I believe it integrates very well with the M&K,s. Various people have been round from time to time and comment on how good the sound is. An interesting point - last year I went to a concert with a copy pink floyd band who were excellent and when got home that night I had a very loud session with my pink floyd stuff and I was very happy that the detail this system gives and it was very close to the real sound I had heard earlier so I am very happy. They are very detailed if driven properly but that's what it was like live I hope this helps.

DLau - A couple of things here, most of my viewing is at night time and therfore not an issue. When I do watch during the day there is some light which gets in but after about 5 mins I do not notice it anymore. I will say that painting the room in Ice storm 2 colour paint helps as it quckly absorbs this light. If the room was cream then it may be more of a concern. I also have a large window and a door in this room which is worst than most rooms and when it came to price versus other options I gave it a try and whilst not perfect particulary with a CRT projector I am very happy.

    Geordie Jester,

thanks for the compliment, the room dimesions are 15ft by 11' 6, so quite small and not to good for bass room frequencies hence the feedback destroyer to tune the bass to the room.

Hi Godfather, nice to hear from you and hope all is well. I have from time to time watched your posts and I can see you are just as enthusiastic as ever with all the changes!!

My job role in the company has changed and during the week I now live in Hemel Hempstead so I would love to come and see your latest set up.

I'm afraid all I do now is use my system on a weekend when I get back home, I have very little time or energy to keep looking at improving things. In hindsite this has been a good thing because my set up is reliable and I'm getting good use out of it, so for the time being I am off the upgrade merry go round !! It's great to hear from you and I must contact you to meet when time allows, take care

    Thanks for the compliments,

The paint is called Ice storm 2, Homebase will make it up for you. The furniture all came from Ikea although I can't recall the names, the CD units are black but the main units are more of a black/brown, they are excellent value for money. Hope this helps.

Wow just going through my old posts and saw this I can't believe that was 2 years ago so I have had this room for 4 years plus and still love it:D:D:D

The paint in the room is much darker than it shows and the gap around the windows is much smaller than it appears. During the day you have to have the lights on to do anything in the room.

The best thing for me is the CRT unit, I have had 2 of these for around 5 years and touch wood they are still going strong and with sky HD through a lumagen to it I am always amazed just how good and detailed the picture is for old technology on such a big screen. In fact the other unit has been wrapped up in the garage for 3 years now they have been so reliable.

The only thing that has failed recently is the fader light switch which has to be adjusted manually and they don't make this unit anymore:thumbsdow.

Thank you all for those very nice comments:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I used to have a similar set up in my front room in the past with an electric screen in front of the main window, it worked well but of course the room was magnolia in colour.

Forgot to add that the only equipment I have changed is the dvd as I was lucky enough to get myself a Tag Mclaren DVD32R top loader and it is superb, so my Denon 2900 is boxed away somewhere as a spare just in case.

Wow! This is a fantastic looking room. There's alot of great set ups on here but this has to be one of the best I've seen.

I'm just wondering, how big is the room?
