This show has been out for a while but I have only just got round to watching it. I was surprised not to find a thread on this show, so here goes. :)

Started watching this recently (seen the first 3 episodes) and its not bad. Its quite humerous and light and enjoyable. Check out Lie to Me as well (just started a thread on it) for a similar veined show which is more serious.

Big fan - got into it a couple of weeks ago after hearing about the massive ratings it was getting in the US.

Great cast of likeable characters - Favourite probably being Agent Cho, with his deadpan delivery.

I thought it might be a Psych clone at first but it's much more in the style of Life.

You've got to love Jane's direct approach and lack of tact when questioning - with no fear of really losing his job. :)

Enjoyable show, they've got a very good mix of likeable characters which is always the key for an ensemble show and so many series fall short with one or more characters.

I am now upto date with this show and its a cracker. I really am enjoying it. The main characters style (Patrick Jane) makes the show for me. It reminds me a bit of Life which is an other show I really like.

    9/10

    Episode 1: Pilot

Bit late to the party, glad to see Simon Baker as the lead after co-staring in the excellent Ray Liotta heist series 'Smith'. 7.5/10

I was also late to the party as you say, but I soon caught up and it was a pleasure doing so. The Mentalist is a cracking little show.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. :smashin:

Just started on this last night, watch the first 4 episodes straight!

The saying goes no one likes a smart arse but it's not applicable here.

I see there is a theme of red running through the show given the episode titles.

So far it's a interesting but like already mentioned light but humourous show.

You have lost me with the red theme. I hadn't noticed that. Could you explain a bit more mate.

BTW the Mentalist gets better the more you watch it. Its a cracking show. :smashin:

This series hasn't grabbed me. I am not sure what it is but I am not bothered if I miss an episode or never watch it again.

I didn't know House was got ridden off for this. Thankfully, I watch House now on DVD.

I've enjoyed the series, not a must watch straight away but I've kept up with the US schedule. House is coming to Five but later in the year, it hasn't been dropped but I can see it's ratings suffering simply due to apathy.

It's fun but not great, although I've only seen the UK showings, so by the sound of things it gets better. We just play guess who dunnit and have a giggle at the Mentalists antics. I've noticed that when the rest of the team work something out you know the Mentalist (still don't remember his name) will always be there first, I guess that may get annoying if it's used too often.

I have only seen the first episode, and I must admit thought it was a poor mans Psych without the laughs at the opening scenes, but when the grieving mum does her thing, perked up a bit. :D

I will be watching more and see how this one goes....

Jane, that's it and I think that's why I don't remember because when they say Jane I keep thinking they're on about the kinda funny looking girl from S1 of Prison Break ;)

I like it too, Simon Baker is great. Glad he's got another decent role after Smith.

BTW, Robin Tunney was in the first seasons of both Prison Break and House.
