Have to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing this again. I loved the first two books and was slightly disappointed that the movie was seriously watered down, but its a lot of fun it really is.

As I've said before this will sit nicely on the shelf next to the last two Jurassic movies.

      Good fun.

I liked the movie when I saw it in theaters last summer, wasn't expecting much but it is a fun movie nonetheless.

Got the US disc and can recommend it for excellent picture and sound quality.

Totally agree with everything in your review Cas :smashin:

I thoroughly enjoyed this film too - fun & entertaining and it clearly had a decent budget.

Stath and a huge shark ... what is not to like ... it was Jawsome :)

The picture quality was absolutely reference material (take heed Mr McQarrie) and looked stunning and as you say the under & above water shots were incredible at times.

Matched by a superb sound mix.

8/10 is spot on and I will definitely watch this again.

"There are certain expectations to a movie once you get Jason Statham involved" Yup. Low ones.

Thanks Cas. Was not expecting much from this, but I really enjoyed it the HDR picture was one of the best i have seen the image was slightly to bright but extremely well detailed and with a lot going on from scene to scene you can hear all the details of the audio with plenty of bass

Agree with Cas on the top scores

Because of Jason Statham I give the film a good 7

I dunno about that. I still say that the first Transporter is great. The 2nd is kind of a "I liked the first one so I give this a pass" film. I tried "once" to watch part 3 and stopped after about 10 minutes.

      (sorry) /end OT

Well, you know what you are going to get when you see his name that's for sure. I have to admit my opinion of him did go up considerably after seeing him taking the mickey out of his on screen persona in the film Spy.

All I want (for Christmas) is Transporter (and maybe Transporter 2) on 4k HDR with MEG quality reference video and sound lol.

I certainly don't think anybody should rightfully expect him to turn into Roy Scheider all of a sudden.

If you view this as The Transporter vs. a Shark, then it's kinda what you'd expect.

To give Statham his due, apart from (as mentioned already), a glorious send up in Spy, he has *tried* a few slightly different angles, including in Blitz, Safe and Hummingbird, maybe even Wild Card, but they all tend to end up amounting to the same thing, i.e. a showcase for him breaking heads. You can see in many of them a strain to do something a bit different, pushing against the commercial reality that the producers want it to be more of the same (Neeson needled in that direction for Non-Stop and Tombstones with alcoholism, with similar ineffectiveness).

And yes, I've NO idea why Transporter 3 (which IS borderline unwatchable; I think I wanted to stop around the time the girl in it was peeing, IIRC) is out on 4K when the other two riotously fun outings haven't been given the treatment. (Yes, I know that it's different releasing studios, but it's still frustratingly unjust) To be fair though, even when they do come out, I'm not sure that they will be uncut. Certainly I had to import an uncut T2 from France, and I'm pretty sure the excellent extended fights in 1 were dropped from the extras of the UK BD.

There’s a nice emotional scene between the mother and her young daughter, but when they hug at the end of the scene, it seemed like as much screen real estate was given to the mother’s watch as it was to them!

I personally love Statham. He might not be the best actor but he has a ton of charisma and charm. His Scenes on the airplane in the last Fast and the Furious movie where the best parts of the film for me. Love his martial arts movies too. One of the few movie stars who feels like he's straight out of the 80's action stars era. I just wish he would do a few more action movies as his fighting style is a joy to watch. Hes also one of the few actors around who could pull off something like Crank lol.

Rented on Apple TV last night, it was pretty good fun, had me chuckling a few times.

Looked fantastic too, with no posterisation to note in the underwater scenes, which I might have expected.

Have to admit I enjoyed this much more than I expected I would at the cinema . It's pure B movie trash wrapped up in a great big shiny bow . Have to say that I prefer Altens, The Mayan Trilogy over the Meg books but that's just my taste .

Film wise I would give it a 6.5 to 7 as it made us smile and I was just gonna go for a stream for it . Seeing the review on the AV front then it's now a UHD purchase :smashin:.

Probably a bit like Marmite for some on here, you will either love it or hate it.
Me, I like Marmite, thought this was great fun (Jaws on steroids) and will probably watch it again.

I love a bit of stath daftness, but all I can hear and will ever hear is "It's a mega-london" when he delivers that line
