Oh well something to look forward too even if the cinemas do not open!

This will be a 2021 release as the 20th anniversary of fellowship, plus due to covid delaying films, they can re-release the trilogy in cinemas, at litte expensive, to reignite interest in the franchise, get new fans on board, which will bring in extra sales for the 4K blu ray's

Shamelessly nicked from Bluray.com with no detail of source but this is from a Scandanavian website with separate Extended and Theatrical versions and an Extended trilogy slated for release this year.

No way it’s being released in October. We would have had an announcement by now. 2021 is more likely

We still don't have a confirmed release date for BTTF in the UK and that is out in October so not impossible that Warner might announce the press release in the coming days.

Yes but BTTF has been made official.

Yes but BTTF has been made official.

Only in the last week or so but there was plenty of talk months ago about the release, its release date and the different versions available so Warner could drop the official announcement in the coming days with an October release date, not saying they will just that I can see it being possible.

Sounds like this might arrive in December after all. From The Digital Bits:

Speaking of Warner, we’re hearing from more retail sources that The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical and Extended) is now listed in the studio’s retailer database for release on 4K Ultra HD in early December (likely 12/1 or 12/8). This suggests that the studio is now more confident that WETA will be able to get the remaster done in time for release before the end of the year. No word yet on whether The Hobbit trilogy will street on the format the same day or follow in early 2021. If the title actually starts to appear on retail websites, you can bet the studio’s official announcement will follow shortly. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.
