Does anyone have any idea when this will be re-issued or where I can get my hands on a copy? I've looked on eBay and they're going for ridiculous:eek: amounts of money!

    Cheers!

What do you mean 're-issued'? I have the SE version (R2), what was wrong with that??

Its out of print at the moment Dean, and it may be re-issued at sometime, but I`m not sure, Play says T.B.A.

Mind you, seems to be readily available on region 1

I heard that it was deleted due to some controversy over some of the extras, possibly the Sam Neill screen test. Therefore it's not available any more in the UK (and doesn't appear to be in the US either). Hence the high prices on eBay for R2 UK dvds. So I am now v annoyed at not having bought a copy previously!!! Grrrr!!!

I appear’s that was just a rumour and I think it was pulled because of some licensing issues. But fret nabby not I’m sure it will be released once again, when it is sorted out.

    hi

Garrett is right, I heard it was to do with licensing issues

Did a quick search and found is from http://www.mi6.co.uk/livenews/fullstory.php3?topicid=414

statement from MGM Home Entertainment regarding the issue:

The reason the James Bond DVD "The Living Daylights" is not available to purchase as a single disc, yet is available in the James Bond Collection box set, is due to a pending rights issue that we had anticipated would have been resolved before our November DVD release.

However, production timelines meant that we had assembled and packaged the Box Set including "The Living Daylights" in advance of the release, and an interim agreement was reached that we could sell "The Living Daylights" in the Box Set.

We hope to resolve the issue soon and will make "The Living Daylights" available as a single product again as soon as possible.

The negotiations were still taking place when the "Buy Bond Get Bond Free" offer launched in the UK, leading to much confusion among Bond fans about the missing film. MGM Home Entertainment did publish a similar statement to retailers at the time but it failed to filter through.

Although the MGM statement notes an agreement was reached whereby they could ship "The Living Daylights" as part of the box set, this interim agreement by Danjaq (owners of the distribution rights) seems to have been rescinded as box sets have been recalled from retailers in the UK.

There is still no known release date for "The Living Daylights" DVD.

    hope this helps

    from pete

    Yep, probably my fave too....
Dalton was a very good Bond...couldn't do the womanising bit at all but was good at the serious spying business.

Necros was a great baddy, and the end with them hanging out the back of the plane is tops....note no CGI!!!!

Finally, I think it speaks volumes that it was John Barry's last film as composer...and one of his best. None of the Brosnan films feel 'right' without him.

Licence to Kill is another favourite too.

Wow guys, I had no idea about all of all this! I assumed that you could buy it from any high street store. I have to say that it is an excellent Bond film, the story is just so utterly gripping from start to finish! And Maryam D'Abo is so beautiful.

Hey, that's a bloody good idea, I'm off to watch it too.. Another great thing about The Living Daylights are the locations sets. yes, I know all Bond films fundamentally must have great locations, but here it is top class. From the SAS seen in Gibralter, all over Europe, Afganistan.....etc

Like many of you, it too is my fave Bond film - I can't believe ITV show Licence to Kill so much when the Living Daylights is much better! :smashin:

Just to say again in case the post has been deleted the opening sequence has to be the best and it was Tim doing his own stunts on top of that Land Rover.
But finding out how they did the scene on the back of the transporter was a let down (sometime the extras give away some of the magic).
Is there a better fight in a Bond film that does not involve Bond than the kitchen the one with the milk man?
It was also a story that was more believable than most just like Licence to Kill. But sadly it was not wht the punters wanted from the Bond.

The R2 sleeve is reversible, turn it inside out and it follows the previous cover art.

The bond DVDs will almost certainly be on Buy One Get One Free again this Christmas (meaning October) so hopefully it will be out by then and they may even include Die Another Day in the offer. The boxset is nice for collectors but there's some pretty dodgy movies in there IMO.
