I was going to pre-order the R1 platinum edition but
I've just come across this.......
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=News&id=4530
When I watched the film in the cinema, I was blown away
by the soundtrack so, with the R2 having DTS, I think I'll
hang on untill the end of October before ordering.
This is one film that cries out for a full bit-rate Dts soundtrack
as long as it will be an improvement over the R1 dolby digital
only track.
Then again, it could end up sounding too similar to make that
much difference as a lot of Dts and dolby digital soundtracks
do.
So I'll wait and see what the feedback is like come October.

sounds interesting (the giftset) butt he price is mighty steep for some drawings. they would look great though framed and on the wall.
Dunno. This being like one of the greatest Disneys (at least for me) I might just go for it. but by the time we know if the DTS is much better on R2 than the DD on R1 the giftset will be sold out:(

It does look nice but I'm not one for gift sets.
The same goes for extras too. If there's a film that I like,
I will go for the best quality video and sound available even
if it means no extras whatsoever. I'm just thankful that some
of my favs. happen to have some decent extras too.

Just in case anyone hasn't noticed, that gift set is CAN$39.98 (about £18) at DVDSoon on pre-order at the moment.

Alex.

Good news folks... the Region 1 version will also have a dts soundtrack. Look here for the full specs.

Hopefully they'll just just put the normal release in with the gift set so the specs are the same!

I don't see why they're releasing it with both versions of the film though. As theres only a minute difference, they might as well scrap the original version, and just have the extended version.

I don't notice speedup so PAL rules:)

I think I'll only watch it in DD 5.1, as the director intended ;)

yeah but didn't he in fact want his films to be seen in the cinema..:D
I'mn that case I'll buy the closest odeon.

On a more serious note. was Lion King 5.1 in the cinema?

Yes it was a Dolby Digital 5.1 theatrical mix. The US Laserdisc also carried a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack.

thank you :)
