It's Marmite, to be sure. But it has seldom been so dark, rich and yeasty!

10's across the board(almost), liked this one then did you? :) This is a definite purchase for me and along with Dazed and Confused was on my wish list when Criterion announced they would be releasing in the UK.

Great to finally be released in the UK better than DVD. Still, having waited so long for this excellent film, I'm tempted to wait for a UHD transfer, especially since they have already scanned it at 4k. Is it very likely/unlikely they'll do one do you think, or might it be dependent on blu ray sales?

Criterion haven’t adopted UHD yet and there’s no guarantee they ever will because they’re such a boutique label and it’s still a niche format.

The other thing you have to factor is that there’s no guarantee they’ll release what you want them to release on 4K even if they did adopt it.

It took over a decade to get Silence of the Lambs, for example, and that was already in their DVD catalogue.

I'm a big Wes fan but to me this is one of his less successful works. Stellar cast as always, but it's a little slow and dare I say it, dull, in places. I'm glad to see it's had a proper 4K remaster though and not just another lazy upscale. And as always, shooting on real film is the way to go.

I couldn’t disagree more but that’s the wonderful thing about Cinema. I think I enjoy this more than Grand Budapest, which I enjoyed immensely but I felt like Anderson was actively trying to create his masterpiece. Whereas I feel life Life Aquatic is his accidental masterpiece. It’s so quotable, almost every scene has a memorable line (“don’t point that gun at him, he’s an unpaid intern”). The soundtrack is immense - from the original score to the cult rock classics from Devo, Iggy and Bowie. And Bill Murray’s performance is perfection. For me, it’s one of a few roles that felt like God had written for him - along with Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day

It’s a free country and anyone is free to disagree...but I will fight you
