The Last Guardian still being developed for PS3

It may have been dogged by delays, questions over prominent staff members' roles and ultimately rumours of cancellation, but it appears the long awaited The Last Guardian – the follow up to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus from Team ICO - is still being worked on for the PlayStation 3.

Many had suggested its troubled development might hint at the fact it could be shifted over to the next generation of consoles, but speaking to Eurogamer at Gamescom, Shuhei Yoshida allayed those fears, stating “the game is developed on PS3”.

He seems to admit that putting out an estimated time of arrival for the title may have been a little hasty, conceding “we prematurely talked about the launch window”. However, “technical issues” were to hamper the project hitting the street in timely fashion and the impression that the game was not moving forward was largely due to some reworking that was necessary, Yoshida says “the engineering team had to go back and re-do some of the work they had done”.
