Bob, that was awesome

Wow.... We could do with a mini alien invasion maybe bring humanity together and wipe out all the negativity - euphoria here we come!!

It's faked: I'm not seeing Hexagons anywhere. Someone call Pincho and tell him they've faked the Universe...

You should check out the opening sequence from the move contact, the longest possible camera pan in movie history from the surface of a human eye to the edge of the universe........superb it is !

Loved it. Despite seeing it though you still can't really comprehend the vastness of the Universe. When you read how our solar sytem is one of 100s of thousands in a Galaxy which is also one of god knows how many, you really have to conclude that logically we cannot be the only forms of life. The video below is not as polished as Bobs link but demonstrates the scale of our Planet compared to the other Planets and Stars we have so far discovered. Humbling to say the least

YouTube - Planets and stars size in scale

The camera man did really well to find his way back!

I've just read a Brief History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. In that he describes space beautifully using relatives sizes of everyday objects to help the reader get their head round the size. IIRC if earth were the size of pea, jupiter is 225kms away!

I suddenly feel extremely insignificant

How Earth made us BBC2 9:00 tonight.

Sometimes watching these kinda things makes me feel a little...i dunno, sad? Because i'll never live long enough to find out everything!

Just ask me! :D

My thoughts exactly! Made me feel sad, insignificant and small (backs up what the missus has been telling me for years...).

Also makes me feel proud that we have managed to engineer ways to learn so much!

Absolutely!! You express exactly my feeling.

I'll never find out how it all works out. That's appalling.

Oh brilliant, you're back! I've missed your insightfulness on the wonders of Paxtonian physics :rotfl:

Yes, my mind is 1% of the population, I'm a MASTERMIND according to my last intelligence test this week. It said that other people like me are Isaac Newton, and Steven Hawkins...(Actually not too exciting, being as I have taken their theories further) Here is my result....

I also passed two MENSA tests, but failed the Belgian version getting 122, where 130 is a MENSA pass.

Here's the Belgian one, I'm sure that quite a few of you can beat 122, I don't know why I struggle with it...

Easy Pincho...

You don't have to rise to every pinprick!

We all know and take it for granted you are the master of the universe.

Just remember the remove the fluff from your belly-button.

:D
