Had the pleasure of this some weeks ago.
Maggie is always quality and shines in this simple tale of a teacher that just goes beyond her remit and whats to help a gifted kid from a poor background.

The question I was asking myself whilst watching this and I do admit doing it more often nowadays as you can't help yourself to put yourself in their position.
*Would have I done that?............ answer would be no but i'm boring :D

      Solid 8/10 for me.

See we can watch films where folks are not flying about, aliens, everyone going loopy and folks not talking to one another instead of looking at 5" screens :D

Hmm. I found this watchable but ultimately ridiculous.
Maggie Gyllenhaal clearly does her best to be the lost wistful idealist and for me, that was it's undoing. Were she to have been popping pills along the way more and more perhaps then it would've sat better. As opposed to her character projecting so heavily on the young pupil and the obvious collapse to come.
One thing you can guarantee with her, is that you'll end up getting multiple shots of her either diaphanous bras or bare breasts - must be a rider by her.

*She was the same in the brilliant series *The Deuce* not that I am complaining here.

Having come into close (but not that close) proximity to Ms. Gyllenhaall, I can confirm that her bra was indeed diaphanous and her breasts are magnificent.

The fact I watch all her films in 3D is pure coincidence. She just happens to be a consummate actress with a broad range.

On a slightly more serious note, this is my favourite film of the 2019 so far (saw it back in February in the cinema). Needless to say, I've already picked up the Blu-ray.
