Attack The Block director Joe Cornish has started shooting The Kid Who Would Be King, and the cast now includes Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson.

Looks good, I almost wish it was fine in an 80s mould where the kids actually swear a bit and there's a touch of violence like the monster squad or Goonies

Dissappointed this has tanked, I’m really looking forward to it.

Have to say it’s been a while since I’ve wanted to walk out of a film but this bored me to tears. The kids were just to poor to hold the film together. The flat script doesn’t particularly help either. I know what Cornish is going for here and aesthetically he gets a lot right but really it just feels old fashioned (not in a good way) and more like something you’d see on kids television. 2/10

Wow, that's pretty damning, shame but then I think Cornish is over-rated anyway.

I’m torn on it because I *want* to like it and there’s flashes here and there (like the unusual score) but in real terms it’s 90% terrible.

Have to say been listening to the OST by Electric Wave Bereau and it’s just delightful.
