You know what to do
If only i had taken this image this month , this would have been a great entry IMO
That is superb!
So what's stopping you from taking another like it, or better?
I love these moving water shots, and voted for allymac's similar shot in last months comp.
Agree - go do it again - it would suit the comp very well, but if you can position yourself a bit more to the left so we can see the water going over that fall which is just cropped out. Maybe a longer shutter speed as well to make it even more soft...
yeah i agree its a fantastic pic and as tobers said maybe worth a revisit to reshoot
I thought about using this one (as he is as soft as they come!)
and seeing as this idea has already been used....
I took this photo last month of a growth on the mooring line of a boat I was diving off.
I was hanging around at 5m giving my body a chance to off-gas all the nitrogen before surfacing.
Must be some sort of sea plant.
OK might have another go, could be worth the trip to Wales again
Told my mate what this months theme is. He said he would said another mate around called Gary, because he is soft in the head
Now that M-C-P-M has entered his image (Soft Focus), do people think it's ok for me to post a picture I took last night on a similar theme (Soft focus of some text) in this thread? I don't want to post if someone has had a similar idea and still intends to enter it.
*The soft feature was added by some 'soft'ware (Ok I will get my coat!)
I was bouncing several ideas around this month, one of which came close to being used, but I changed my mind - it was perhaps a bit too silly, and not really photographically interesting for my liking.
I won't post the image here (in case anyone else has a similar idea for their entry), but I'll link to the Flikr page... "Soft (Toy) Porn" (tasteless maybe, but safe for work )
Heres a couple of Colour Shots taken on my waterfall in Surrey....
1st is the colour version of my Entery
2nd Is how the Waterfall looks from the footpath.
3th Is another close up on the rocks.
4th Is the colour Non Cropped Version
None of the shots have had any PP
All comments most welcome as Its the first time I have done this, so fired away.....
Thanks for looking
Heres one i took of my cat, but cant use it.. soft light on soft fur..
Threw this round as an idea....my little girl thinks shes famous now.heehe
Good thinking Vulcan, i like the idea, it might have been better as your entry
the original was excellent though
Was thinking about using this as my entry, but thought that it didn't adhere to theme enough (softness of the buttercups and the oval crop with feathering).
The wife thought I should have entered the swan, you have to have a soft butt to sit on them.
Taken a few months back unfortunately (01/12/2006 1:40AM), but when I saw 'soft' it was the first picture that sprang to mind.
Took 40 shots trying to recreate it without much luck, haha... oh well.
Canon 100mm macro
2sec shutter, f2.8, ISO100
No editing. Just resized for forum.
EDIT: oh and the photo is of a Nintendo DS Lite
This is the original colour photo i used as my entry for this month
These are other shots i took that i decided not to go with
Looks like the ivy's taken over the barbie sweetgirl?
You got a pretty impressively detailed crop from that shot. Definitely went with the right one. A close up of a hand stroking the dog's deep fur would have been a good one as well.
This was gonna be my entry for this month, but I couldn't get it to look how I saw it in my mind So I re shot it today with the candle instead of the hob and I think it turned out better.
Hooray! I got my 'plan B' shot (in case my new lense doesn't arrive in time) I went out this lunchtime and got lucky with this shot...
If the other ideas don't come off, it's in!
350d - Sigma 70-300 APO DG.
MODE - AE
TV - 1/640
AV - 9.0
ISO - 200
FOCAL LGTH - 300mm
WHITE BALANCE - auto
Just tweaked the level in slightly, and boosted the orange in the beak, original crop.
ps - @Underdog - Liquify idea = fantastic! I totally forgot about that funky filter since we don't use it at work, now i'm hooked!
This is a good one too, though it's not obvious it's a hob. I think you chose the right one.
I quite like this one, makes you think a bit. Would work better if the watch and the hob didn't look quite so disjointed. It's a lovely effect with good sharp detail. I think you were right to go with the candle, the melt/flow looks more natural, good effort
Thanks Ian, I think your right it does look disjointed.I couldn't quite figure out why I wasn't happy with it. It looks as if I cut and pasted the watch onto a pic of a hob, but it really was lying on the hob
Oh well practice makes perfect
Might mave looked better in a frying pan or something more identifiable as a hot thing.
