My sister just sent me her comments on the Vipco release:

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

What a pile of inexorable junk! I don't remember it being as tedious and slow-moving when I first saw this. Maybe my expectations were lower then! The worse crime an exploitation film can commit is to be boring and this is as tedious as they come. There is no plot! The IMM escapes, wanders around, kills a few people and melts - end of story. Rick Baker's make up FX are good but not enough to sustain an entire film around. If you want to borrow this I suggest you keep your finger on the fast forward button of the remote control."

On mature reflection I will not purchase myself a copy.

I remember seeing this at the cinema when I was a kid.
Thought it was superb back then. Haven't seen it since and hope I never will!

Looks like another victim of nostalgic false memory syndrome.

Yeah, I think a lot of my memories of old cheesy movies are reduced to the cover art on the video packaging. Hence... Metalstorm is one of my favorites. :D

So, considering the cover of Melting Man (at least in Canada) was a guy actually melting (and looking pretty freaky), then I still have fond memories of Melting Man. Come to think of it, I don't know if I actually saw the movie. Maybe it was just the box. :)

That probably explains why I thought "Enter the Ninja" was the greatest ninja flick ever... until I watched it again.
