I ordered the Thuderbirds Box set from them back in Nov '04.

Can't remember how fast they were but they are not too good at communicating with you and don't email you when your order is despatched, only when they receive your order.

Has anyone had problems with this merchant not paying their Quidco commission ? I've just had a transaction come back as being 'declined' :thumbsdow

quidco is ALWAYS cancelled - i never use discount codes (these can stop quidco going through) and i always go directly through quidco's link

placed quite a few orders - usually bargains to be fair - but very rarely do i get the item. usually wait 4/5 months and after endless emails i get the orders cancelled.

i wont use them again, no matter what the price.

placed an order in november/december - just received it last week

I've used them a couple of times when they've had their 10% off offers. Everything has always turned up in a couple of days to a week, no longer. Certainly as good as anyone else.

From the look of the postage label, as far as I can remember they do post form Jersey.

    I'd certainly use them again.

I just used them for the first time. Item was out of stock, but was sent yesterday after about 4 days. I got an email notification on dispatch. They seem to only charge when the item is actually dispatched, which is good. So far so good!

How long do they usually take to post items?
I ordered 3 Blu-Rays on Saturday 15.03.08 and they are still "Awaiting Stock Pick".

don't know why that happens with some ... I've never had a Quidco Hut transaction declined, and all to date have paid out ... and yes they have all been with 5% or 10% discount codes

only one order of mine recently took ages (Danger Man 13-disc boxset for ~£16), but it was a misprice that was backordered and honoured :smashin:

EDIT ... by the way I have occasionally cancelled Hut orders myself (as I've found it cheaper, forgot to use a discount code or just had second thoughts about the item)
    - and guess what, I received Quidco commission on all these cancelled orders too!! :rotfl:

I always get an email for despatch, however I have to say I only use them if they are significantly cheaper.. They make no effort to get pre orders out on time and Im still waiting for pre ordered discs to arrive from last week yet other suppliers got them to be by the weekend before release.

This thread is pretty old, so i wondered if anyone could tell me if they are better now, or just general impressions of the place!

When i use price comparision sites for movies, the hut always come amongst the top 3 cheapest, and their site looks reliable!

    Hi ibby!

I've had no problems using them for the last 2-3 years, whenever they've had the best price for something; they're very reliable, and I've found their Customer Services people helpful over the phone, and have always had the Quidco cashback pay out (even on cancelled orders)

They're pretty well established, and are also the firm that run the Asda Entertainment site for CDs, DVDs, Games, etc

I have always been happy with The Hut but I ordered a PC Monitor from them on the 22.01.09 and they took the money on the 28.01.09. I still have not received the item despite messages and phone calls to them. They still can't even give me a delivery date.

    They just say:
"Our supplier has confirmed that this item is on special order for you; however they have been unable to provide any availability dates at this time.
Please be assured that our buyers will continue to actively source the product for you".

Should they be selling items they don't even have? It sounds like I might not ever get it if they cannot "source the product" for me? How long are they allowed to keep me hanging on like this when they have my money sat in their bank account when it could be sitting in mine gaining interest? I hope they are not in trouble financially as if they go under they will take my money with them! Any suggestions?

    Not happy.:thumbsdow:mad:

Did you pay using your Credit card?

If your worried then cancel the order and request a refund.

    Paid by Debit card.
I don't want to cancel if possible as it was a good price for the item and it's price has increased since I ordered it.

Well I think you are well aware of the issues of paying with a debit card.

You are the only one who can decide if its worth the risk waiting.

I think it's unlikely the The Hut are gonna go into administration (touch wood). What I am more concerned about is they have taken the money when they have no idea when they are going to be able to source the item. When I have enquired about a refund they were very reluctant to do so as they say the money has been passed to a third party supplier. It just all seems so vague! They simply cannot tell me if or when I will ever get the item. Surely they shouldn't be taking people's money for items they may never be able to get hold of?

    Of course they shouldn't.

But they have it, if you don't ask them directly to refund you then they will not do so.

If it's worth the bargain then wait it out. Otherwise cut your losses and demand they refund you. It seems it is the only option you have.

Then use a credit card next time.

I cancelled my order with them yesterday over the phone. The amount of waiting and their lack of any information despite having my money was too much in the end.

The plot thickens. All hell is gonna be let lose now...

I have had only good experiences with TheHut.com, and all their related stores. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a DVD from them that arrived damaged, I contacted them and was authorized to send it back. They responded very quickly and provided a freepost address to return it to. I contacted them on Monday because it had been over 10 days since the item was posted and I'd heard nothing. I wasn't waiting long on the line and was told to send them proof-of-posting, which I did. I received an e-mail saying they'd received that, and then later today I got an e-mail saying they've sent a replacement out! I don't even think they've yet received my return. Today, Thursday, I received the replacement in fine condition. Their customer service has been very good indeed, certainly deserving of praise.

They have always been excellent with me too. This is the only time they have ever been poor. I will continue to use them for games & blu-rays, but not electrical items, as they take your money straight away, even when they don't have the items in stock and may not be able to source them for a long time. I just think people should be aware of this.

They have agreed a refund now after many calls, but some of their staff (not all) were quite abrupt and unhelpul to my partner when she called and just kept repeating the same things and not answering her queries. I also found this in their onsite e-mail service. I often got cut and paste responses that didnt answer my questions at all.

And this morning i got dispatched email for one of them.
Won't be using them again anytime soon.

How reliable are they? I ordered something yesterday and at the time the item said 'usually dispatched within 4 working days' (on my account the estimated dispatch date is 30/03/2009, so next Monday) but the item has since changed to 'in stock - dispatched within 1-2 working days'. I just noticed that the payment has been taken for my order (on the 24th, so yesterday) yet on the website it still says my order is 'processing - awaiting dispatch'. I have just contacted the customer care and asked them about it and they said it has been dispatched this morning and the website status should update soon along with an email notification. Should I take their word for it or are they just saying it's been dispatched to keep me happy?
