If proof was needed, the dts version of The Haunting
shows that a bad film can be made good by having
    an excellent soundtrack.
As the film was on telly last night I decided to do a few
comparisons with the sound. Now, my tv is no slouch
when it comes to sound but I didn't expect the film
to sound so flat! There was absolutely no tension
generated by the sound f/x when watching the tv version.
The dvd on the other hand was a revelation.
Hooray for home cinema systems, how did we live without
    them!
    :D

thats what has prompted this purchase!
i have to say for a tv broadcast, my sub was alive and filled the room rather nicley. just can't help wondering just how good the dts version will sound - its a truly amazing mix, or so i am led to believe;)

That's what I've been saying for ages. It doesn't matter how crap the film is (eg The Haunting) if it's in DTS, it's great :D :) :D

I have this DVD, got it from www.dvdboxoffice.com for about 11.50 delivered.
It is true that the sound is very impressive and is a good way to test your sub.
The film still remains a pile of dog vomit though. A friend told me today that she didnt know it was a comedy/horror. I had to tell her that the comedy was unintentional.

I tend to find most Horror's comical. Well, except Blair witch, which was shocking(ly bad). The DTS soundtrack to The Haunting is certainly worth it tho',a nd does make teh film just about palatteable :)

www.absound.ca have the DTS signature collection release of The Haunting for $19.97 (canadian). That's less than £8.50.

I watched this on Sky last weekend but I don't think it was in Dts as it was just ordinary sound on my TV

I am tempted to get this just for its soundtrack, but having seen it before on Sky, I just can't justify having this travesty of a film in my collection, no matter how good the sound is. (I'm a fan of the original though, maybe thats why the remake offended me so much)
