Wife forced me into getting this one, I begrudgingly watched it but have to admit it's a fantastic film.

Agree with the PQ comments, great picture.

Hi Cas, sorry to be pedantic but it is based on the life of P.T Barnum, not Barnes. :)

This is going to be out on disc in the UK before it's out of the cinema charts! A truly amazing box office run. Haven't made the trip out yet, but I'll have to pick this up, both the wife and daughter want to see this.

No regrets buying this disc. Loved the movie. The Atmos is spot on and the picture quality reference. Highly recommended!

Mine arrives from Amazon today. Woop woop. Was a surprise pleasure at cinema as nothing else was on at the time.

This is the first time I've chosen to listen using DTS - X rather than Atmos on my amp based on some of the positive comments about the format recently. I'm not a fan of what DTS does to speech as it makes it a little harsh IMO, but I love how it works the surrounds. The sound on this disc was brilliant at times - really enveloping. I'm going to have to go back though some other 4k films and try DTS to see if I'm not sold on that.
One of the things this film does well - that some would criticise it for, is that it's very fast moving and at a little over 90mins long arguably leaves you wanting more.

I did not know it has a DTS:X soundtrack. I thought they were one or the other not both. Atmos or X

The atmos track is the best I’ve heard so far.

It doesn't have a DTS:X soundtrack as someone said before. DTS HD yes, and Atmos. Look forward to hearing the Atmos.

Just watched this last night for the first time.
Now I don't usually do musicals (animated like Frozen are ok or even the remakes of Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast were watchable too), I just don't get the 'walking down the street busting into song and dance' routine. But have to admit, I really liked this one.
As already said, the PQ (Epson 9300 projector) was beautiful in HDR, very clear and vivid and the SQ (Atmos) was very good too.
I actually quite enjoyed the songs and didn't really think that any of them were weak (some stronger than others, but none 'weak').
A few of the DFX animals were a little ropey as was the voice dubbing on 2 of the charactors, but not enough to detract.
Its fast paced with a good story line and the time flew by.
Definitely a watcher and a keeper in our case.

My thoughts exactly @Thug My Mrs tried to get me to watch La La Land and I couldn't get passed the first 10 minutes. This I could probably stomach a rewatch!

I watched La La Land and I could have watched it again. It's not as entertaining as this bit still worth another try.

My daughter has been asking for this, finally watched it tonight.

Great film, wonderfully shot, and performances all round are excellent.

Thanks as always for the review Cas :)
