That would have been a sweet ending. I thought maybe he would have he head lobbed off, a la Highlander.

The inconsistency of this show is mind boggling! Last episode every ship had a scorpion and fired in unison so about 20 arrows were flying through the air. This episode only Euron's ship was firing? What?! Also, they knew she'd attack from the air so why were they not ready and waiting? Oh I know, because they needed Dany to win so she could survive for the finale.
Also, the city surrendered. Why go full retard? Why not just destroy the castle? Why burn all the innocents when you've sworn to protect/save them from tyranny?
Loved the episode but Game of Throne's it is not!

In the last episode, they had the element of surprise. In this episode, Dany knew what to expect and adjusted accordingly. Everyone moaned about how good the ballistas were last episode and how they weren't that accurate or manoeuvrable, and this episode showed them more in their real light.

I don't think Tyrion will Kill Drogon. I think the wildfire was just showing there was left over stashes as was always intimated. I do wonder if Jon will become the new "owner" of Drogon.

Wasn't there also the book theory that Tyrion is a Targaryan bastard?

Maybe Dany attempting to kill Tyrion will be the final straw for Jon to kill Dany?

I think how the first dragon died was good. Magic spear. Rheagal was a cheap shot at levelling the playing field somewhat for the final battle.

As I said last week, I'd have been happy with a lucky shot straight in the eye, or even the throat downing Reagar, but the 3 hits on target just seemed too precise. Especially when this week they couldn't hit once.

They may have know Dany would attack from the air but they didn't know which direction. It also showed just how hard to reload and how they aren't easy to turn. That is why lasts weeks kill was a bit lame.

The story has been hinting for quite a while that Dany is a dark character. The innocents does seem a bit overkill, but she flipped. Leaving a big story for the final episode.

If the slaughter of thousands of innocent people wasn't the last straw then I doubt if trying to squash Tyrion will do it.

But that's the point, the full retard flip was unearned. She has shown no sign of being crazy/insane.

She did make comments about breaking the wheel in the lead up. OK, it's a stretch to murdering innocents, but I think her "point" was that they decided to side with Cersei by entering the walls of Kings Landing. They should've stayed outside and been spared.

Bran has been looking after his siblings since he became the three eyed raven, mark my words he's more involved than you can possibly imagine.

I've loved every episode on their own merits but as a whole they just do not fit with what's come before.

Dany was killing everyone in Kings Landing not only the ones in the Red Keep. She destroyed the whole city!

The cinematography in this episode was amazing. Far surpassing a lot of big budget films.

I'd go as far as saying this was the episode the production values got to feature film levels.

True. Although the Hound lost his fear of fire in this episode.

Although some would say it came at a terrible price.

Finite budget + film level production = short ass season.

    D:
What did I say would happen if you told your sister. [About his true heritage]

    J:
I don't want it, I told you. [The throne he's the rightful heir to.]

    D:
She betrayed your trust. She killed Varys as much as I did. This is a victory for her. Now she knows what happens when people know the truth about you. Far more people in Westeros love you than me. I don't have love here. I only have fear.

    J:
I love you. You will always be my queen.

    D:
Is that all I am to you? Your queen?

[Dany kisses Jon, but he doesn't reciprocate, uninterested in pursuing their former romance.]

    J:
Alright, then. Let it be fear.

On the long and arduous journey to King's Landing Arya probably taught him some self help mind control tricks.

Yes, I did take note of that but she became tyrannical in a very short space of time. I can't remember which episode but didn't she say something about defeating tyranny?

I know lots are saying it should have been a longer season (or one extra) but isn't a large part of this down to actor contracts? Maybe this was the longest they could keep everyone? Sometime practicalities just get in the way.

And as for Dany - she's been foreshadowed as the villain from Ep 1 this season by Samwell - so for me it was just waiting for when she completely lost it. (although I do understand why people wish it was more drawn out - but for me that might have given the game away too soon).

But regardless of all that - the wiping out of King's Landing was wonderfully well done. Also well worth watching this if you haven't. Interesting to see that the Arya scene was going to be one long shot originally. And that outside King's Landing directly mirrors BOB. These "making ofs" have been bloody great IMO.

The seeds were sewn early in the series. For me, her cold reaction to Viserys' death in season one confirmed that she was going to become the tyrant she set out to defeat.

By the same token, the seeds were also sewn for Cersei having a measure of humanity left in her. Its why I'm so glad Jamie didn't kill her, as the internet wanted.

Absolutely, although we don't know which decision was made first, budget or season duration, but they definitely had a large affect on each other.
