Seeing as though the big marvel movies etc can get a thread to discuss without spoiler tags, I thought I'd see if we get the interest here.

SO BEWARE, IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE LATEST EPISODES YOU MAY WANT TO AVOID THIS THREAD. :)

I think we should leave this open to all episodes in series 8 with speculation etc, all spoiler tag free.

Why do you assume she and Jamie are dead?

Why do you assume that they have survived hundreds of tons of masonry falling on them?

And burnt in a spectacular fashion.

Everyone should have listened to Varys, we all knew he was right.

So glad Cleganbowl finally happened, RIP the Hound, probably my favourite character overall.

Yeah that was good but bit long winded for me. I still like Daenerys as shes the only one who likes to get sh*t done.

Tyrion should have died episode3,he used to be one of my favourite characters ,but has been useless the last couple of seasons.

What was the point of Bronn being in this series?

Loved Cleganebowl. The Hounds frustration that his brother wouldn't die!

All hail the psychologically maladjusted Queen! :lesson:

It was obvious Varys was going to be right. Maybe Tyrion will sacrifice himself and kill Dany, maybe with his dagger that Arya now has.
    RIP The Hound.

I’m really hoping Tyrion redeems himself in this last episode. Otherwise they have ruined one of the best characters.

Whatever happened to the head of the faceless men? They just disappeared from the story.

So much for the iron fleet!
    So much for the scorpions!
So much for the golden company!
    So much for Ser gregor!

More thoughts later, but Cleganebowl was rubbish. The old 'throw the protagonist across the room' trope repeated over and over.

The Kings Landing massacre however was fantastically done. I wanted them to go that direction to be honest.

Fan service. He’s a popular character. Utterly redundant, though

I think the excuse for the Scorpion's uselessness in The Bells was the fact Daenerys wasn't gliding along casually, she came at them almost vertically with the sun at her back. She learnt her lessons from the death of Rhaegal.

Yeah it reminded me of Highlander for some reason, and as it was a human v zombie basically it was good that Sandor ended it by sacrificing himself to the dreaded flames.

Totally thought of Darth Vader when The Mountain took his helmet off.
I thought that it was good to see there was a bit of The Mountain left in the zombie body. It almost seemed that he was completely gone and just replaced by a robot as such.

I liked Cleganebowl. It was quite fitting with everything that was going on around the city.
Dany definitely learnt her lesson. It was strange just how much power Drogon had though. I know he was always the strongest one, and maybe his power comes from the his rider or now he is the only one left?!?

The Golden Company were absolute pants. I did like the way they were dispatched though. There is no way the leader would ever have made leader though. Total pussy.

I reckon he will show up in the final episode with one last outing for Bran too.

Well the scorpions were useless in the last episode against drogon, but deadly for Rhaegal.

The one thing we've learned about Ser Gregor is that if he gets his hands on you- its over. He'll crush your skull or dash you against the rocks. The only way to defeat him is to keep your distance and attack with weapons.

What happened here? Gregor gets hold of the Hound time and time again, and just throws him roughly against the wall or the floor. All of the mountain's attacks are (just about) survivable. He just seems to be toying with the Hound long enough for our hero to deliver the killing blow.

Also, call me sick, I wanted to see Gregor get his head smushed and all pus come out.

I just thought it was a mediocre boss battle.

He was invincible in this, with unlimited energy. It might have been good to show him replenishing himself somehow, maybe by eating some villagers or a horse.

Also the scorpions went from being about 95% effective in the last episode, to 0% effective in this one. Surprised noone scored any hits at all.

Did anyone notice the wildfire igniting in certain parts of the city? I wonder if that's significant. I have a possible theory that Tyrion will kill Drogon in the next episode, using wildfire as a weapon.

Was Cersei pregnant at all? As I said before considering the distances travelled, and all the events that have happened etc she'd easily be at the 9 months in The Bells.

I liked Cleganebowl but I LOVED how Qyburn met his end - and how Cersei did a "I'm just going to go now" moment and skirted around them.

How come Tyrion is still breathing?

Dany warned him that the next time he failed her would be the last. So he goes straight out and releases the captive Lanister (and not even with subtlety), yet the next morning he's off to King's Landing without a care in the world.

Surely the guards he dispatched from Jaime's door would have gone straight to their superiors to report? Whoever found him missing the next day would have gotten word to Dany?

Maybe she did know, and it was another thing that tipped her over the edge to burn the city. It was Tyrion that begged her to call off the attack once the bells rang, she heard them, thought about Tyrion and his betrayal and went berserk.

Which is how it should be, Dragons are meant to be near invincible. This is what bugged me about Reagars death last week.

In this weeks, Dany had the element of surprise, dive bombed the fleet with the sun behind, attacked smart and fast, took advantage of the slow aiming of the crossbows. I was happy with how she took out the defences.

Daenerys, didnt even need the dothraki or the unsullied in this one.

The massacre was quality, but you knew it was gonna happen when they surrendered too quickly. And you could feel Dany thinking "na,you're not all getting away with it after all what's gone on".

Euron character I could never take seriously, even the fight with Jaime was rubbish, and the childish ha ha I killed you thing.

How come Arya was still alive and everyone around her were full crispy? Like her character but better if they showed her coming out from underground

Yes, I agree. The entire show has built up the power of dragons as an unstoppable invading force, so in that respect the writing is consistent. Seeing the red keep get taken apart was incredible, must have been what it was like for Harrenhal.

As for the massacre, bravo. Having the hero become the villain is a smart move and without it, we'd simply have a goodies v baddies movie style finale. Didn't hold back on the rape and slaughter of innocents either. Takes us back to the Blackwater episode when Cersei describes what happens to a city being sacked. This is the fate she avoided back then, coming back to haunt her.
