Just got the above title on R2 DVD. Was concerned about the soundtrack as I had read about gunshot sound effects etc. being updated to 'contemporary' sounding ones. To my relief they don't appear much different from what I remember from my laserdisc version. Only place where I found the new sounds truly noticeable was with the second cannonshot that sends Tuco tumbling against a tombstone at Sadhill, towards the end of the movie. The shell burst sounded definitely modern. One thing that does bug me though is that the volume level of the soundtrack seems extremely low; it's substantially more quiet that virtually any other DVD in my collection. The disc also contains German and French soundtracks. Tried both of these, but they were just as quiet as the English one. Has anyone else noticed this, or could there be something wrong with the release I have ??
