Must be a difficult review to write Cas, as it's such a let down of a film.
Definitely not worth buying unless you're a completionist on crack.

      Agreed Cas,

Looks brilliant in HDR but Claire is no match Noomi Repace.
      Thanks.

I bought the Bluray version despite lacklustre reviews mainly because I wanted to see Claire Foy in the LS role and I had read the book.
I agree with most of Cas's review, its all a bit style over substance. The book is a good if not compelling read but the movie version pretty much ignores all but the bare bones of the story.

Claire Foy does a good job but just cannot match the sense of beligerent rage that Noomi Rapace brought to the original swedish trilogy. Some of the action scenes are very good but others like Lisbeths escape on the motorbike across the frozen lake require the viewers suspension of disbelief to be at full stretch. A final point that started to irritate me was that every interior scene seemed to be a minimalist architects wet dream. Does every Swede live in a concrete and glass box?

I like yourself just finished the book and enjoyed so was looking forward to the movie.
Your right in that the film is nothing like book.
Though I did enjoy the film, I miss Noomi,I thought the escape on the ice quite clever .

I can understand Noomi not wanting to come back to this character as her portrayal in the original Swedish films were just fantastic and after the remake decided to let someone else take the reigns. I did however think Rooney Mara did a great job in the remake of the Dragon tattoo, especially with such big shoes to fill.

I just wonder why they didn't go back to Rooney and offer her this title or maybe they did? I don't think Claire did a bad job at all, but before watching the Dragon remake I was cringing at the potential outcome, but I think Rooney did a great job. Not "quite" as edgy as Noomi of course, but still could have taken the character further as Lisbeth is such a great protagonist.
