Given the frequency of "sales" at places like Play, does anyone actually buy Region 2 discs on their release any more or do you wait for them to go into the sale bins at Play, MVC, HMV etc?

    Just curious.
I stopped spending my good money on brand new releases of R2 discs a while ago and just wait to pick them up in the inevitable sales at Play etc a mere couple of months down the line from their initial release date. It's saved me a fortune... which I've promptly gone out and spent on a different disc instead.

Also, does anyone exist that actually pays non-discounted prices for their discs? I mean, who pays £20 for a disc? I'd feel robbed, personally.:thumbsdow

I know what you mean, play seem to drop R2 prices by a couple of quid a fortnight after release. It's ridiculous. I bought The Italian Job when released for £15.99, it was £6.99 at one point on play. Blade 2 and Goldmember are £8.99 each for god's sake!!

I won't be buying new R2 releases again.

I stopped buying new R2 releases for that reason, now I just sit back and wait for the price to drop. I still buy the odd R1 disc now and then.

I only buy region 1 new releases now, and then only the "must have" stuff. By shopping around I rarely pay more than 12.99.

I wait for the rest to drop below a tenner and buy region 2.

There are still a hell of a lot of people who pay 20 per disc in the High Street because they consider buying over the internet to be dodgy.

Definitely don't buy them new - unless I really really want it, but then if I really really want it I have usually bought it on region one first! ;)

I wish there were a few more region one sales around :(

You don't have to wait for the sales as they normally appear here in the classifieds a week after release.

Don't buy many new releases, but those that I do are mainly R1 (although I have bought other new releases on R2/4, e.g. recently pre-ordered Dog Soldiers R2 and bought R4 of Lantana last year). I do love R2 sales though - good value

I only buy R2 in sales @ £10 or less.

My impatience gets the better of me some times.

If I take a fancy to a DVD and cannot be bothered to wait the 3 days it takes for Play to send it, then I'll get on a tube to Leicester Sq and go to the "Cinema Store".

They always mark up most of thier new releases to as much as £25, but at least you leave the store with what you want.

It really comes down to your budget and your attitude to money.

I recently wanted to see "Force 10 From Navarone", so I picked it up from Play fro £9.99. While I was there, I thought I'd have "Guns Of Navarone" as well, which I picked up for £8.99, which is not bad as it's official retail price is still £19.99

I really just buy what and when but it's been a while since I bought a R2 disk for full price (that's full price off the Internet) :)

Thats pretty much the same as me, although there is rarely anything i want on r2 anyway because ive bought them on region 1 ages before. So the sales are a bit pointless for me most of the time.

I'd rather exercise my rights as a consumer and buy what I want from where I want, when I want.

Couldn't give a rats ass about sales figures personally.:boring:

We will, once R2 discs are not cut, contain all the same extras, are available at the same time, and are at equivalent prices.:smashin:
