Question The French Connection Blu Ray which version

Day off + "Ohh look, a remastered print" = Ordered

£8.63 plus delivery on Amazon Marketplace.

I haven't got round to buying this on BD because I vaguely recall some controversy over alterations approved by Friedkin prior to the BD release. the following review makes it sound like the alterations aren' that bad:

The French Connection Blu-ray

Is the UKI transfer the same and is the controversy justified?

I bought 1 and 2 boxset for £5 last week. Took this as a deciding factor. Both releases are approved by Freidkin, but only the second one by the cinematographer also. The reviews for both releases are hardly glowing. No doubt a few 'This is how I remember it being shown in the cinema' reviews are out there.

Bargain - much more expensive then when I got it - Best buy only! Anyway great film.

Sick Boy - shame I think you will get Friedkin's "experiment version" for the first film - its interesting to see.. but doesn't work..

Thanks for all the responses. I've gone for the newer US disc.

The newer U.S disc is superb, the uk got the same one i think in steelbook form.
