    Thought this might be interesting??

The first DVD you bought - what was it, when was it and (if you remember) how much did you pay?

    For me it was:

The Thing - Jan 2000 I paid about £15 from HMV

First Internet purchase - Saving Private Ryan Jan 2000 £17.99 from Play.

    What about you:)

Think I bought a few as I remember in a set imported from US.

Think it must have been The Wedding Singer, Contact, US Marshalls and Starship Troopers I think, and guess it would have been October 1998 if I am counting back correctly.

Think they were all around 15 dollars each and at the time I seem to remember I generally had about as many titles as the shops in Germany where I was living at the time.

The Exorcist for £16-99 I think in WHSmiths using tokens I was given when I left a rubbish job. I didn't buy a DVD player for another 3months but knew then it was only a matter of time! First Internet purchase I don't remember - it wasn't for a while afterwards though 'cos I didn't get netted up until I'd had the player for quite a while... Would've been R1 something more than likely, and more than likely again a horrible French dual cover from Play! ;)

    My first was The Faculty.

Bought it between Christmas and New Year from Whsmith, all fluey, before my DVD player was about to arrive. Paid top price I think. Didn't know any better then.

That was Christmas 99 and have the same DVD player (Tosh SD3109) still going strong.

I bought a PS2 on 06/01/01 until then I had not owned a dvd player so I guess it would have been not long after that....I know I bought Leon, Casino and the hurricane together from a WH smith sale, also the matrix was bought early on but I can't remember if it was before the other three....

Outbreak was the 1st one that I played (can't remeber what else I bought) back in Aug 97. It was a defining moment when the scream of the rockets flew from the rears to the fronts, shattering the quiet jungle. Put a big smile on my face.

I think the first DVD I bought was Small Soldiers R1.

Prior to that I was a dedicated Laser Disc punter. Still got about 50 (up for sale may be).

My first dvd was the region 1 For a few dollars more. Paid about £20.00 for it in August '98 from a region 1 dealer on Shaftsbury Avenue ( who charges rip-off prices, the average region 1 disk costs around £25 to £30  ).

I think your right! I used to buy loads of laserdiscs from Laser Enterprise as they used to be called. It broke my heart when they were raided by FACT. I had a few good titles on pre-order!

I bought my DVD/Laser Disc player from Laser Enterprises in 2000. They do now trade online as www.enterprisesdvd.com

All that trouble with FACT. The bad old days indeed.

    I still own a Pioneer DVL 919.
