The fall and fall of splashdvd

As announced in the DVD forum, splashdvd.com is no more!

I for one will miss their poorly designed website, their months of waiting for a CD to be delivered before giving up and going elsewhere, and last but not least their half-arsed customer service. Im glad I dont have to sit and listen to that annoying woman on the phone for 68 times before getting through!

Good riddance. :suicide:

Agreed in full. Shame I have £55 of outstanding stuff with the gits.

They were called Under18 (!) before SplashDVD - perhaps they'll resurface as PlopDVD ... Paul ;)

Under18 was classic - you had to be so careful when typing the site in or telling someone what it was!!

They've resurfaced as BlahDVD.

well both are in Jersey so its possible
There are loads of retailers with Jersey postal addresses (Play, Powerplaydirect, Loaded 24/7, etc, etc), but it doesn't mean they are all connected with Splash. I have given Blah the benefit of the doubt, and placed an order with them, which was shipped yesterday. Dirty Harry Box Set for £15.99 (with £2 voucher from spam email). The only thing which concerns me slightly is where they got my e-mail address from, but even if they did buy Splash's customer database, that doesn't mean they are Splash.

Rumour goes that one of the guys working for Blah who answers claims that Blah are not Splash, happens to have the same name as someone who worked for Splash. They could have just poached the staff though ;)

And there was me thinking that Splash had a personal vendetta against me when it came to accepting orders for titles they had no hope of supplying. Good to hear they've gone down the pan except for those with outstanding orders. After cancelling my 3rd order with them I found these people. also based in Jersey. I had some reservations about them being Splash by another name but to date, everything I've ordered has turned up within a reasonable time frame.

i used to use 101cd until i found CDwow! having tried many retailers i find that now unless there is an amazing price, i stick to play and CDwow, just a pity CDwow are less competitive than they used to be due to customs!

101cd have been around for years, long before Splash came and went. They used to be really quick, but since they started shipping from Jersey, the service has slowed down a little.

It has been said that this has changed, as CD Wow now ship through Europe, so there shouldn't be any customs charges.
