Quite looking forward to this - the first one was okay so, with mouse and keyboard controls, the sequel has potential.

Need to give the demo a try.

Have Steam recently reduced the price as I'm sure it was more than £29.99 last time I looked? Pretty good deal on the 4 pack too (£22.50 per copy).

Just finished the demo. Can't say it blew me away so I'll probably wait 'til it's on sale before taking the plunge.

I wasn't really sold on the Darkness powers (seemed a bit hit & miss in their application) and the gameplay itself felt a bit generic. Maybe the full game has more variety but it seemed like all I was doing was going down corridors, killing a few baddies and then pressing a switch or opening a gate before doing the same again. It also doesn't do a lot to disguise the linearity and in some cases puts up invisible barriers to stop you going off to explore the environment :thumbsdow

Art style and cut scenes were decent enough though.

Yeah, best thing for me are the 'in-yer-face' graphics. Had to really make an effort to even bother finishing the short demo - the tentacle kills quickly became tiring way before then. Like you say Jellofund, maybe the full thing will have more variety (and be less linear).

The original game had some "darklings" - sort of Overlord style minions (only less controllable) and also had a really neat black hole vortex power that sucked anything nearby into it. I seem to remember that was all quite good fun.

I loved the first one, played it on the 360 and it is easily in my top ten games of the current gen of consoles.

Anyone else played this - just completed it

Not that impressed to be honest. The cutscenes and 'forced interaction' conversations could talk the hind leg off a donkey. The darkness powers, which were fairly good in the original, have been seriously downgraded (blackhole is now a pickup, no slithering around corners and the minions have been replaced with the US ideal of the average British person). And on top of that the shooting side, presumably to encourage more people to the darkness powers, was really lacklustre.

On the plus side at least it didn't fall into the trap of lacking decent night vision (like the first game), the minion slashing parts were fun and the environments were much better than the first game.

    Overall I would rate it as 4 / 10.
