so i took my camera with me during my volcano running trip to the canary islands, and got this picture early one morning, it wasn't taken with the comp in mind but i think it fits okay.
thought best to enter now, as i tend to be quite poor with my time management. that comes from being an optimist, so i'm told.

Played around with it in Lightroom, usual tweeks - contrast, levels, and all that malarky.

A moody image that I think has an uplifting feel to it because of the light that's spilling in. I like the soft light upon the cross. Is it a grave?

it felt like a grave after the journey to get there!!!
it was more of a shire though really. locals and visitors left trinkets and rocks there.
    and thanks for the comments!

I like this a lot, but I'm still wondering if the statue is 'too' into the corner.

Yeah, i know exactly what you mean! but it was a bit of a physical limitation, i was one step away from tumbling down an almost vertical volcano side of sharp, jagged, encrusted magma!! haha! i'd have liked to pan left slightly, but then i lost the breaking sky, and the lens was as wide-angle as i had!!

C'mon, where's your dedication man ;) I still think it's a very nice image indeed despite my slight wondering. I do really like how the pictures draws your eyes into either side. It's a very interesting image indeed. The light almost look as though it's shining down from heaven onto the cross, excellent lighting.

Works fine as it is for me with the placement - keep thinking a bit more clarity or curve adjustment would help the overall contrast :)

think you're right there!! just altered the tone curve a bit and i much prefer it as a moody shot. seems like in my haste to wade through my holiday snaps i neglected the compo!!!!

Great sky, moody for sure. With that cross in the bottom corner, it just doesn't work for me. It needed to be more in the frame of completely out of it.

I like this but can't help feeling it would benefit from a bit more contrast, to give it a bit more punch

Nice image and would like to see a different version where the cross is more to the right...as someone also suggested

Yeah, thanks but it just wasn't physically possible without a wider angle lens or a flying carpet!! Haha
