Speaking to a very clued up member of the sales staff at John Lewis today, he said that he'd been reliable informed that the likely subscription cost for Sky HD will be £10 per month, however the box itself could be around the £400 mark. He wasn't sure that the £10 per month would apply to existing Sky+ customers or those with one or more premium packages.

Interesting....and well worth the money :)

I saw a HDTV at a BBC R&D open day around 5 years ago...I was blown away. Like looking out of a window.

Next year will be expensive, 2 HD consoles, HDTV, new TV :)

Daft question but will u need a new dish?

The SKY High Def service will be using the same satellites as the existing standard def service so you won't need to replace an existing dish that is in use for SKY Digital.
However the new STB is based on SKY+ so it will require two LNB feeds otherwise it will have limited functionality.

HD1 is also going to broadcast from Astra at 28.2 degrees later this year.
