Lovely pictures, the monkey looks like I could almost touch it :smashin:

I am from Essex - I have not been to Colchester Zoo for many years, I might pop up there in the spring time.

Great pictures Bill & Garf. Bill your first image is a cracker - a different take on a zoo picture and a great spot. Superb sense of the tigers size.

Love the penguin Garf - what a poser!

    I can see them. :smashin:

Squizza - All very good, but for me, the last one is the pick of the lot - Nice and sharp, love the way the bird stands out against the background, and also the contrast of the colours between the bird and the background - cracking..

What is the new lens by the way ?

(My eldest son (8) also says he likes the yawning Tiger shot the best... )

Some very nice and interesting photographs on here:thumbsup:

Bill, i found your photo no 6 particulary interesting, the tiger with his reflection in the pool as i have an old japanese sword with the same image engraved in the brasswork, told as a picture story on several different parts of the sword.
I believe its called the legend of the tiger thats quite a famous proverb/story in Japan it depicts a tiger with a chunk of meat in his mouth who sees himself reflected in the pool and thinking its a bigger piece of meat he is seeing, drops his piece to grab the piece in the reflection and lands up with no meat at all.
I suppose its a moral about greed.:)

Edit, just took a quick snap of it, not very clear but you can make out the tiger and his relection

Nice shots Sarah, I like the tigers, but think the whites are a tad blown. The last shot is the pick of the bunch for me.

Most are glass panels unfortunately. There is a viewing area for the penguins where no fences or glas get in the way.

The giraffes, zebra, rhinos, elephants are free to roam around (in an enclosed mini field obviously :rotfl:)

Anyway, an excellent zoo to go to.

    Kind regards

Sarah, hope you don't mind me saying, but would a tad more contrast help, just feel that the blacks need bringing out a bit.

We used to do four colour screen printing where I work, after the cyan, yellow and magenta colours went down the picture often looked "finished", but it was only when the black layer went down (always last unless you were printing in reverse) that the image started to zing !

    Only my opinion.

Some great shots in here again.

Biscuit - all good, but love that chimp..

Squizza - well done of getting some nice face on shots of the tigers - I never seem to be lucky enough for them to be close enough.

Bren-escape - I'm not a card holder, but for the last few years, my lads have had animals adopted for them for birthdays, so we get a bunch of tickets each time. Worth getting an annual pass though, it's a really good zoo..

Few from the weekend just past..

This is the fella that was adopted for my youngest this year - Rondo the red panda. Shot this through the glass, so not the best. They are incredibly cute.
