Because I look at SO much stuff nowadays... I just can't wait until a firmware update comes out that can finally play it.

    Have been told this:

"If you are still having this freezing problem, try remaking the Eboot and changing the Game and Save ID to "SLPS02180". I have beaten the entire game on my psp with this code and the only problems are there is a slight slowdown when using gf junctions, but as far as freezing goes, the only freeze I had encountered was one time when I was on the 3rd disc battling a blitz. I don't quite remember the circumstances, but I do remember that I was running multiple plugins and that could have caused the crash. But yes, final fantasy 8 is definitely playable and works about 99.7% with this code."

I have tried the above and have noted:

    1) No crash at Dollet Tower
    2) No crash even when spamming Quistis Lazer Eye and Ultra Waves
    3) Slowdown when in the Junction GF / Junction Magic menus
    4) Slowdown when being hit / hitting

    and thats it!

This is on 3.52-4 M33 with disc speed on Normal. Menu items for Mono, battle speed, battle camera seem to have no impact on the slowdowns.

The slowdowns are almost as if its needing a second or two to catch up while calculating the outcome of a battle.

On top of the Dollet tower, it seemed to be having a real struggle for one small section of the fight (I'd been sat drawing for a good 15 minutes!) so that could be the bit where the game would usually hang.

Just in case anyone finds it handy. When fighting a Visage, it drew Scan and cast it on one of my team. This caused a freeze. So beware of this!

Other than that, up to Disc 3 and no errors on 3.71m33 fw!

Just converted Disc 3 using psx2psp v1.2 (had been using 0.72 but disc 3 refused to work) so will see if this makes any difference whatsoever.

    Oh
    my
    god

I'm on 3.80 M33-5, all shades of lag have totally vanished ... in fact its running smoother!

From what I can tell.... this is the #1 way to have FF8 running on psp!

oh oh OH, just gone back to this on the latest M33 firmware (3.90 or something) and battle freezes are back but worse than ever!

How can you roll back firmwares? I may roll back to my previous stated one to test this.

Freezes when drawing, casting magic like Curaga.... the works. This is compared to a glitch free experience before.

Is it possible to roll back firmwares easily? Or is that a Pandora jobbie.
