Looks good, why not build in an option to easily extend to 7.1 though while you are at this point?

I would think middle of the room each side, but it's not something I've really looked into, just an idea for the future as 7.1 is becoming more popular.

see http://www.dolby.com/consumer/home_entertainment/roomlayout.html for speaker placement advice some people have put them in ceiling for small rooms but ideally stick with Dolby layout as far as possible also suggest you run some cat5 about the place.... never know when you might want to run a PC on plasma or similar. Also get builder to run 3 core to lights and this way you can upgrade from varilight to a grafic eye or similar...pull wiring spec for lutron unit as its worth doing it while you can.....ALso put some string in the pipe to draw extracables through........loads of other tips see moviemikes home cinema progress thread.

Well the biulders are almost done :) Electrician is done :) Plaster is here today to finnish of. AV wiring is all in place i took on the advice for 7.1 and now have 4 speakers at the rear of the room. All the wiring goes through 50mm tube under the floor and was very easy to chase them all through. Next job is painting then the flooring. Here are some more pics. I also put in six mains 50w GU10 halgen in the ceiling working of a varlight dimmer. Now starting to look like a room again. Can't wait till is all finnished hopfully for Xmas.

Thanks hunts1uk here's some more picture's. I am making my own AV Unit/dvd storage. The bottom part of the unit is drawers. Top one for remotes, manuals and the odd Home cinema magazine. The other 2 drawers are for dvd storage. The top part of the unit will have 6 slide out shelves for AV equipment 1st shelf is done and one door fitted. The unit will go right up to the ceiling. Run out off flat pack stuff off to B&Q for some more in the morning.

Can you give us a breakdown of costs just for an idea?
    Are you pleased with it?
Would you change anything if u re-did it?

Hi Raze the biggest cost for me was the building work its self £6000 but i had other work done apart from this room. The plasma cost £2400 12month old but im realy pleased with it upto now. All the cabling under the floor cost
alot i havent looked at all those bills yet :) But the biggest change i would make if doing it all again would be to put bigger piping in under the floor as the 50mm tube soon filled up and now i cannot fit any more downthere :(
The rest off my AV stuff i already had so no cost there. I still have got 4 more speakers to fit but the wiring is all in for them plus a nice sub to get.Got to save some more pennys for them :D Also i fitted varlight dimmers realy good value for money but should have run cat5 for futher upgrade. Other than that im realy pleased with my setup now. Another big plus point was my AV cupboard i built. All the bottom three drawers lift out and then i can slide all the AV shelfs out alowing me to stand up at the back to do all the wiring which was a very big help made is so much better. I must also add a big thanks to everyone on the forum for such good ideas. All helped to bring it together.
