Do the Brits have any relevance or credibility? If I was in a band I'd take a Brit as an insult: it'd be a sure sign that I was being too commercial and had sold out.

It's pretty strange, but music awards never seem to have anything like the credibility of film awards. I guess they're too fragmented: there's no awards that cover all music types, to my knowledge.

As per usual, each category winner is almost guaranteed to simply be the nominee who sold the most records.

And, as always, the Dance music category was won by the least Dance oriented band of the nominees. Don't get me wrong, as a pop act, Sugarbabes are great, it's just that they're not a dance act.

Highlights of the whole event? Sara Cox's melons and Coldplay's lasers

    I disagree....

Tom Jones's bootpolish goatee was the single highlight of the awards.

As usual, The Brits give awards to nothing but crap.

Well, someone had to say it.:lesson:

You have a point there... although I think I can trump it:

Highlight of the event... every bloke watching Justin Timberlake thinking 'So, the World's most fancied male actually looks like the So Solid Crew fan with the F-reg Max Power Escort who lives across the road'?!?

Give me a group that "wouldn't sell out" as you put it if they were offered the right deal. For people not to claim they don't do it for the money is complete pap. :)

Sarge, I believe you're entirely correct.

In the words of Gene Simmons from Kiss 'Music? Everyone who starts a band does so for the girls and the money. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar'.

And if you don't believe that, two words: 'Chris' 'Martin' :D :rotfl: :D

Fair comment Sgt Colon, but it doesn't make the winners any more listenable...

I think perhaps I just dislike 'pop' in its current format. Perhaps if I was 12 and female, I might like it better.

PS: Will Young is 'not too bad'? He murdered the Doors! Fatwahs (sp?) have been issued for lesser crimes!

i actually thought the brits last night were alot better than i had expected.
when it started off with pink, i thought "oh no" after seeing her perform so badly on the mtv awards. but i was pleasantly surprised. she sang in key this time, and the distorted guitars always win me over.
i was delighted to see norah jones win an award. i bought her cd off her website along time ago as it hadn`t been released in europe, and have been in love with it ever since.
performance of the night for me was david gray. great voice, great songwriter, a real talent.
lowlights of the night: blue, karioki time. justin timerlake(although kylee appearing with him held my attention!)
coldplay i though deserved their awards as well as it really is an excellent album.
miss dynamite. good to see her winning as well. enjoyed her performance with george michael, and the reworking of faith, that girl is a real talent too.
strangest award of the night was to the sugarbabes. now when they said they announcing the nominees for best dance act, i couldn`t understand how they were included. their album is a breadth of fresh air in the pop charts, with some really well worked songs, but dance music? do me a favour.
as for the awards going out live, well we all know they weren`t as they managed to bleep over davina swearing!
on the way into work this morning, i was listening to the radio, and the dj said he has logged onto some american site at 7.30 p.m. last night and they had the results of all the winners:rolleyes:

Sarge, I think Avril Lavine's drummer was the guy out of Sum42 (well, the main one- I appreciate there was quite a few). From memory, he's called Skidmark or Spud or something equally stupid.

Please bare in mind I have beaten people to death with their own severed limbs for saying less!:smashin:

The sugarbabes were awful singing live. what's the betting that was pink's gf sitting next to her. timberlake? fantastic album but a very ordinary looking bloke... women as a whole must be very gulliable to accept him as a heart-throb.

the winner in my mind was kylie's arse as usual!!:D

I think I'm the only bloke around who actually finds Pink attractive... that I do probably guarantees she's a carpet muncher :D

I think you have to hand it to Timberlake, the leader of one of the biggest selling acts in the US of the last 10 years and now a multi-national solo star. I also find 'Like I Love You' insanely catchy, although 'Cry Me A River' isn't anywhere near as good. He can also look OK most of the time, I just don't know what he/his stylist was thinking last night.

And what about Davina? What a dog's dinner.

And is it me, or does anyone else think Vernon Kay comes across like a Steve Coogan comedy character rather than an actual individual?

they did sound very nervous and looked ridiculous (like something out of bladerunner).

forget to mention Sara Cox's breasticles (as she calls them) they were winners along with kylie's wonderful rump... what a thought!

pink could be nice if she wore a dress:rotfl: ... bit too buff for my liking!

Timberlake's album is superb I've had it for two weeks and it hasn't been out of the car cd yet! tons of influence from early MJ and a sprinkling of stevie wonder. I just don't get the attraction.

i would happily punch both davina and vernon (i think he's the only person who thinks he's funny)
