I was going to get the UK editions of the Bourne Blu Rays but have read that the UK Identity and Ultimatum have FUGLY player generated captions for place names and subtitles for the foreign dialogue, just like the UK DVDs!!

Instead of place names and subtitles being part of the actual film print, the disc will use a generic, ugly looking subtitle stream to recreate any place names and subtitles that should have been "burnt in".

Supremacy uses the proper burnt in captions and subtitles on the UK BD.

    Useless Universal. :nono: :suicide:

Apparently the US Blu's have the original burnt in captions...

US versions for me...more money but better version of film. :)

The US Blus are encoded at slightly higher bit rate than the overseas BLUs.

I read about this issue as well. Can't remember where though! Unfortunately as you said, the US boxset is a lot more expensive than the UK version. In some places it's actually twice the price. Taking into account the cost of the US boxset, the import duties and the PO handling fees I personally don't think it's worth importing the set, much as I'd like to, when the UK boxset can be had for just over £30.

Most people got the Canadian set from Playusa for £39.99, myself included. Fair enough, some got slapped with customs, but most didn't...

Not sure but why encode at lower bit rates and take unforeseen risks when sufficient space is available.

I was gonna hold out for the US set, but it's still far too expensive. I watched the UK Blus and bally well enjoyed them, in spite of the stoopid player generated caps.

Oh well, I've had the uk blus bought for my birthday so I really can't turn my nose up at them because of the captions on 2 of the 3 films and the bitrate which I'm probably not eagle eyed enough to spot the difference on anyway.
