Don't usually care for tat but that's some cool tat!
Will wait for reviews on the disc but definitely one that has my interest :)

What a ridiculous looking and over-priced bit of tat.

Hopefully we'll finally get a proper transfer of this film that hasn't been digitally shat on.

For those wanting that tat release (who wouldn't? :D) Amazon.com have it listed for $59.98 here so about £63 shipped. Amazon Canada also seem to have it for £40 (+ import duty) here

The main USA listing says "Blu-ray" but the URL clearly states "4K".

Any errors can be ironed out later but it's a great price compared to the Italian option either way.

Wee update, that Amazon USA versions seems correct with the UPC of 191329072820. The Canadian one has actually dropped in price but I don't see any confirmation it's definitely the same edition so far.

I would actually like the Italian Cecchi Gori one as it was always the best Blu-ray (although they chopped off the PolyGram logo) and it looks like they did a lot of work on the transfer including the use of the patented SonicJiggleBath™ (later renamed to 4K HDR™):

WowHD have the CE for £49.64 (£41.37 without the painful "sales tax") here

Looks the best bet once you figure in the import costs of the Canada option.

DeepDiscount have a 15% off sale but it's works out about the same too.

The collector set in Germany seems to be Blu-ray only.

There's a new image clearing showing "4K" in Canada:

That's going to be the cheapest I reckon it would be great if they called it Le Grande Lebowski :D But they won't, it'll be some local fudge Frenchian packaging as usual.

If we assume C$64.97 = £38 then 20% Brexit Tax =£46 approx. Problem is if they hand it over to the unRoyal Mail as they'd steal an £8 fee. My last couple of Canada orders have been by a white van man.

I'll just go with .com as I have a $10 promo bringing me in at a guaranteed pre-paid with import fees US$59.92 (£48 approx)

WowHD still looking the best for most people.

Apparently the film has been colourised with teal. Why would they make everyone look yellow?
In Midnight cowboy criterion turned everyone yellow and now another classic movie has been made yellow?
As Stan Laurel said when accused by Ollie of turning yellow
    "it must be the lightening"
If it ain't lightening then goodness knows why our classic movies are being turned yellow
I'll stick with the original prints

The HD DVD was better than the Blu-ray due to staying away from de-graning. The Blu-ray release was a travesty thanks to heavy noise reduction. Both were sourced from dated masters. I hope Universal did a proper remaster and used that for the UHD release.

That's just like, your opinion, man :D

Seriously, only had a quick look and it looks great will try and watch it early next week.

Hopefully people will actually watch the film before snowballing their opnions into some sort of post T2 UHD horror transfer-fest.

Just watched it and it looks amazing. Bit worried when the titles rolled but that is not unusual in my experience and was near perfect after that.

Loads of new detail and they've worked wonders. I did reduce the TV's colour setting by about 15% so I was happy with the colours but there's no 'teal' or anything else that shouldn't be there. I don't know how they cleaned up the Pacific end scenes but they worked miracles as that's always looked awful on Blu-ray including the best version up to now, the Cecchi Gori release.

Seen this twice in one day at the cinema and countless times since so I know just how great this looks.

Universal have still removed the original PolyGram intro sadly (which messes with the music cue).

Is the film grain in tact and signs of Edge Enhancements as I can't stand these 2?

To my eyes all the information that was there in the cinema is there now and I see no new digital artifacts. Nothing added nothing removed.

As I said, the intro titles don't look great (outro looks perfect as that's white on black) and you can see they were up all night on the scene disposing of
    Donny's ashes
. Otherwise it looks great. No black crush, missing information (grain) or dodgy colours in my eyes. All the optical trickery done from 1998 looks fantastic.

The last Universal Blu-ray was an abomination and the UHD is something totally different. There's detail and colour I've never noticed and it looks beautiful. Like I said I did have to drop the colour on my 65" HDR TV but everything else was default.

A few people elsewhere were starting to spread negative comments about this transfer and of course not only had they not watched the disc but they quickly changed their minds once they'd [still not watched it and] seen nasty lossy JPG comparisons on their lo-res monitors and phones. Comparisons can provide some information but are usually quite useless especially with Blu-ray and well done UHD. Apples and oranges.

    Get the disc and see.

In the last year I rate UHD in 2 categories: olde films like McTerian's Predator (an amazing transfer which blew me away and has never looked so good -makes the previous Blu-ray look like a VHS tape) to things like Warcraft which should look amazing and does.

I was worried about what they could do with the UHD of next month's Superman: The Movie but having seen Predator and The Big Lebowski I have great hope and sadly less money :D

Now look here, I'm awfully sorry but we're going to have to occupy your house.

Those who say that it's not been colourised need to have a read of the available information on bluray forum. The print has officially been colourised. That means they've used teal.

Teal? :D Hopefully people will buy the disc and watch it. Staring at JPEGs on horribly constructed websites with lossy and massively resized and altered images doesn't wash it. This is the UHD forum after all. I'm sure there's some teal in there somewhere along with magenta etc.

The new version certainly looks to be much closer to our film look - Roger Deakins

End of..So we have to accept and move on (as long as there is no DNR / EE)..

That Newsnight robbery clip in the end titles where they put Kenny Rogers & The First Edition was brilliant. It's on iPlayer here Watch the dog at the bottom of the picture! :D

Must be the first time I've heard someone talk about an "Ultra HD" disc on TV.

    Great interview last week:
