I'm looking for the best mini Hi-Fi for under £300? I like the look of the Denon DM31 & Technics SCHD560E. Any comments?

Do you use the Denon speakers that are supplied with the unit?

I'd try both the Denon and TEAC (try John Lewis if you don't have any specialists nearby), but personally, in that price range, the Denon is hard to beat, does sound amazing for the size.

With the Denon and Teac it's worth using speakers up to about £200 eg. Kef Qcompact, Monitor Audio B2 or Acoustic energy Aegis EVO1 but with the denon the speakers are made by mission and are worth about £75 per pair so are definately better speakers than the Teac.

Second that! The bundled TEAC speakers aren't that special, even if you only spend £100 quid on some cheap Missions or similar for an upgrade, you'll be doing a great imrpovement, but better still go for the Denon and it's all there already - for less overall cash!

If you order a Denon brochure it'll have all the glowing reviews from the press enclosed! www.denon.co.uk
