You have to make a shelf on the wall behind the TV putting the center on that, everything is possible.

    This is not the SP50L3HX

    It's the SP50L7HX

But yes I agree it is the best looking rear projection design I've ever laid eyes on, if not the most practical.

    Anyone who actually owns one?

Can you lift it yourself to move in the room?

I did wonder where I would put everything I even considered making a see through cabinet under the stairs. But I fear it's out my price range anyway :(

According to the samsung site it is the SP50L3HX the SP50L7HX looks exactly the same

It's a mistake with the images on the Samsung UK website.

The SP50L3HX is the same set as the SP46L3HX except it's 4 inches bigger.

The SP50L7HX is the 50 inch pedestal TV pictured at the beginning of this thread - there is only one size/version of this model in the UK.

Does anybody know when the SP50L3HX will be launched/available and have any idea of price? I for one think it looks far nicer than the L7HX pictured.

I have been following all the DLP threads for weeks and until recently was all for the Optoma, but am now reading about problems with the sets - that have obviously been rushed out as they don't even seem to arrive with the correct English plug or an instrucion book.

    regards

Andy I've been following the threads with interest too, I'm still undecided and have decided to wait to see what the new year brings

    Samsung L3 used HD3

Samsung L7 uses HD2+, Carl Zeiss optics, 10,800rpm speed and lots of other goodies.

Like it or not, the L7 is the master of DLPs today, however i don't fancy it's design.

Samsung L7 will also come as a 56" soon, probably spring 2005.

Lizzard - thanks for the picture - it's the first time i have seen the stand and in my opinion it improves the look of the set, but does not/can not of course address the problem of centre speaker.

I don't trust things made in Italy. if they are as bad as Ferrari then it is a nightmare.

I know the Seleco projectors(CRT) was having many failures with the component boards, i really don't think Seleco(SIM2) has improved the quality since then, it's Italian you know where nuts and bolts comes off.

Actually, the above is not quite correct. Since I own a Samsung SP46L3 (and an RD50), I can tell you:

Samsung L3 ALSO has Carl Zeiss optics, 10,800rpm speed/7 Segment wheel, and lots of other goodies - yes - some which even the L7 doesn't have, viz. Texas Instrument's Darkchip2 and SmoothPicture (TM) technology.

And actually, having spend HOURS with both the L7 and the L3, I can tell you that the L3 - for normal home viewing (ie mainly SD/satellite/cable and DVD/Xbox) - is overall better - I've seen em both SIDE by SIDE with the SAME DVDs and SAME DVD Players, etc, etc, ....

Just my humble opinion, anways. Cheers.
Samsung L7 will also come as a 56" soon, probably spring 2005.

    Krishna,
without getting into an arguement of words...... you are wrong when it comes to the hd2+ vs hd3 debate when you say that the hd2+ does not have darkchip2 it of course does have this and with all the reviews there are in the states eg cnet, pcworld mag, ect, ect all do not rate the sammy as the best and only give a good rating to them.......plus if you look on the american avsforums you will see many many people who have seen the sammy 46 vs the kirk model (glass pedestal) and your one of the first to say the hd3 looks better or at least a minority. Also how do you know what is inside with out opening it??? here is a link to the best DLP out there right now http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review1911_main9563.html (it is the american 52inch version but shares most of the same inners)

Just to add an improtant point, the following is from the review 'Even though Toshiba does not publish contrast and brightness numbers per se, the set's contrast ratio was clearly in excess of 1500:1 with brightness levels reaching more than 1000 cd/m2.'

The lastest UK spec brouchure from Toshiba qoutes Contrast Ratio of 1000:1 and Brightness 600cd/m2.

I'm not sure if the review you have supplied a link to is worth the web code it's been written.

It might look the same from outside and share some of the same inners but one question you need to ask is 'Are some of the most important inners missing'

HD3 got worse contrast ratio than HD2+, much worse.

    HD2+ is much better chip.

However, HD3 got a better fillfactor than HD2+.
