The best lcd for around £1000?

    looking for a tv between 32" (very minimum) up to 42" and have about £1000 give or take a bit to spend. I have been mainly looking at the phillips ambilight 32"/ 37" or the samsung and sonys? feedback would be greatly appreciated.:lease:

    Oh yeah i will also be doing quite a lot of gaming and watching sports so i will need something with a good response time.

    XD1E 37" sharp £999 or the 42" £1099 ?

    i would go for the Panasonic 42PX60 for £899, but its is a plasma when you want an LCD, but that means you will have a better picture and response time

    Oh yeah i also need the television to be good on the sd side of things as i only have regular sky+? do those sharp aquos deal with sd well?

    From reading you posts, I say you're much better of with the Sharp mentioned above, Philips high-end and Toshiba WLT68.

    Dixons are doing the philips 42PF7621D/10 for £999 now.
    I bought one of these a couple of months ago and i have not regretted it at all.
    SD picture processing is superb both with inbuilt freeview or even analogue.
    Have the following connected to it -
    PC via dmi to hdmi.
    Dvd via component
    VHS via scart (still a respectable picture even with this source)
    Nintendo Wii via composite (I know worse connection but still looks good)!

    Price per size per picture clarity there was nothing to compare and believe me I took a couple of months to decide - Plasma v LCD, screen size against viewing distance, many many visits to shops and checking out different picture sources.

    Just remember to tweak the picture settings down after purchase.
