Without a doubt, Serenity; that space battle is just plain effing awesome!

Other excellent choices are Constantine and, if you want to illustrate to your friends the flexibility of the format and still show them a cracking picture, stick Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on.

Haven't seen it on HD-DVD but I bet "THE PERFECT STORM" kicks some butt in the sound and picture department.

I think I read somewhere that it's one of Warners dodgy ones sourced from a 1080i master...

But isn't the movie itself a complete pile of pants? Or are the reviews way off?

This title has it all, great story/PQ/AQ. Some of the outside shots are simply stunning.

Just watched Aeon Flux and IMO this is the best HD PQ eye candy so far. The film may not be classic material but it looked stunning on my setup.

PQ is fab  Audio is as good as the DTS edition but couldn't say better TBH.

Also Swordfish is pretty good and Van Helsing in some scenes is breathtaking in the PQ dept. (no comment on the film intself though :D )

How do some of the slightly older films look?

Namely "Leathal Weapon" and "The Fugitive"? I'm guessing something that's more detailed, but still quite grainy. Or am I way off? :D

The Fugitive looks great, as does stuff like blazing Saddles. For me this is where VC 1really works well.

    Nic,

Do you know what that top ten is based on? Is it PQ alone? I've got the DVD of Serenity (I think I payed £3.99) and it has some of the poorest acting in I've seen for years...I'm not usually sensitive to such things and can watch eye candy films for what they are. I've watched it once and I wouldn't watch it again..not many films I could say that (see my comments below!)!

I can understand buying it to show off your HD-DVD player but I don't think it'll be the ones I buy (£20 for the few scenes?) ....#3,5,6,9,10 + Unforgiven and even VanHelsing  I could watch again and again and enjoy.

    Jus
