All well and good, but am I the only one who wishes they'd give us a choice of finnishes? Silver comes and goes, but in my world Black never goes out of style! :(

Must admit have been studying the website on and off for about an hour now and I have to say I am dissapointed to say the least.

Gone through the 2 channel manuals and brochures and its almost a carbon copy of the the old Audiolab stuff.

The AV stuff is even worse, just a flyer (1 page leaflet). Looking at the rear of the AV unit you can clearly see the 'TAG' links, but no mention of them in the flyer and what appears to be a headphone socket on the rear!!!. Whats all that about?

Um its a headphone socket- where headphones go.

Several companies (Cyrus spring to mind fastest) have stuck the socket on the rear panel for years for (one assumes) aesthetic purposes.

    Hi,

As most think, it's a great pity the only option is silver.

However, the one really interesting thing is the loudspeaker section within products. Although its empty of detail it does show the caliope bookshelf speaker. Yet the publicity shots seem to show something else I think stuck on top of spindly stands. I can't really make them out. And a sub? Or are these IAG products I don't recognise?

    Just a thought!

    Martin

That was meant to be sarcasm tons of fun

I had Cyrus 1 many years ago and whilst the headphone socket was located at the back the way the amp was constructed ie shoebox style with access from above, proved to be a pain or a mild incovienience to me. Locating at the back of the unit, would mean for me at least I have to carfully drag the unit from my AV stand to plug in the headphones. Ergonomically speaking its a nightmare :thumbsdow

I agree (and apologise for flippancy) but for irregular headphone users it is actually something of a boon.

It can't be long anymore then the prices for TMA hardware will be going up again :D

I had a look at the CD-Player. It bears no sign of TMA technology in there - for sure there is no "Audiolab"-Sync-Link.

I couldn't spot the AV proc. manual would be interesting to see what's left there. I don't really like the new displays.

We will see what going to happen to them in future. I can't be convinced yet that the new customers get good value for money. :lesson:

I thought that, earlier this year at a show in the Far East, it was intimated that black would be available "later"?

there is Tag link style sockets, would like to know if they are compatible. The big issue for me is whether the Audiolab software will work on Tag units :)

Do you need T2 on an integrated CD player? I hope this is a new design as Tag weren't cutting edge here.

Speakers back :) They sold well, all down to price now....

My Aphrodite also has an headphone jack in the back.

It's strange about the speakers… I can't find info anywhere. They seem to be the Calliope.

And if they are making the calliope speakers mayber there is a chance of getting the dedicated stands that I've been looking for!

    Time will tell.

"As the range develops, we will be adding source components and adopting new technologies within our products. The core 8000 series products will remain, however, the cornerstone of the range and will allow you to develop a system that can grow and adapt to your needs for many years to come"

This is an interesting statement from the new website, hinting towards "greater things to come"!

    Any thoughts?

I think it would be fair to say that that will depend on how well the core 8000 series sells. If it ends up dead in the water, then I think we can forget that!

Same worry I've had all along g.man. This is why I was so grumpy they didn't start with something to get the market hungry for more. A product based on the AV32R DP but for 2K or less would certainly have done it. (Does anyone know the difference in manufacturing cost for the AV30R and AV32R DP?).

If you were seriously pinning the future of a business on a product, would you choose to base it on the AV30R?

So is there a big leap in quality between the AV30 and the AV32?

You mean in the sense that people can't hear the difference between a system that is applying TMREQ and one that isn't?

I don't think you should have a listen, FazerThou, you'll just kick yourself.

would it be better to replace my tag av32r by this one ?? last, but not least, would you know dealers who are wiling to sale outside UK ?
    Thanks

I bought my av30 for £1100 from a dealer and at the time the 32's were still out of my price range but now......I was looking at the 32's on ebay at the moment and if the price is right and knowing what I should be able to get for mine the question still stands. Is there a big difference between the two, not including tmreq as thats still out of my price range.

    Hi FazorThou

When I originally bought the AV32bp192, I demoed it against the AV30. My wife and I both agreed there was no comparison, either with music or with AV stuff!!. We both felt the sound was sweeter, there was better audio steering in 5.1 mode and in stereo using CD's it was like the musicallity had been released from bondage.

Since then we have upgraded to the DP which took listening levels to a totally new dimension. I originally played music and AV stuff without using TMREQ out of choice and was most impressed with sound coming out of the box, on can only assume the electronics and wiring is totally different to the bp-192 in addition, there is enormous help from the SHARC Dual Processor on tap!!

Taking time out to set up the TMREQ is well worth the effort, as the whole listening experience is yet again taken to a new level or dare I say a 'new dimension'.

What ever you play whether it be CD's or AV stuff, close your eyes and your there. Best investment I have ever made, apart from my wife!!

    Steve

What ever you paid for a home cinema friendly wife, it was definitely a bargain.

If you don't get that right, quality of life can be a bit patchy and upgrades are bloody expensive.

I think its best to get the rest of the home cinema set up before adding the wife.

Back on topic, I had my AV32R before the AV30R came out. I heard one in a showroom rather than in my system and I have to say I wasn't really tempted to take it home.

I wonder....... I doubt it. It's a shame :thumbsdow

I think we will see a 192 and a DP. We might have to wait a while but I think it will come. However by then many may have moved on and the new audiolab owners may well have little in common to the old Tag guys and girls.
